Founded in 1982, Musiques & Recherches is a space dedicated to the creation, research, promotion, information and production for electroacoustic, and more specifically acousmatic music. The association offers composition studios, regularly invites artists in residence, and supports amateur and professional artists who wish to use its electroacoustic production facilities. In addition of workshops and training sessions, the association organizes many concerts, seminars, and two yearly international festivals. Its thematic review, LIEN, seeks to share the intellectual and aesthetic trends of acousmatic music. One of the largest specialized documentation center in electroacoustic music, as well as a multi-media library, are also open to the public, Further, it has its own acousmonium. The acousmonium Influx, mainly dedicated to the performance of acousmatic music (nothing to see, everything to hear and imagine), has been gradually assembled by Annette Vande Gorne since 1980, after her first concert in Brussels. Today, the acousmonium is composed of an analog and MIDI board with 60 spatialization tracks and 80 loudspeakers. This set-up has enabled more than 400 concerts and training programs, contributing to the promotion of international pieces in Belgium, and of Belgian composers abroad (Poland, Italy, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Kosovo, etc.).

They blend their favourite compositions from Downland to Fairuz, improvising on baroque bass lines and oriental maqamat. Il compose sa musique à partir de sinusoïdes, de bruits, de basses et de formules mathématiques. Alors que ses précédents albums se construisaient toujours lentement, Ultratronics de 2022 est beaucoup plus direct : les traces de techno apparaissent plus clairement, les basses tremblent plus que jamais et une voix robotique tente de compter jusqu'à trente. Ikeda garde néanmoins le contrôle de tout cela de manière magistrale. Il interprète Ultratronics en direct en combinaison avec une projection visuelle générée à partir d'une immense quantité de données. Avec ce mélange d'images et de sons, Ikeda crée une expérience immersive inoubliable qui ne laisse personne indifférent. ! Attention ! Une grande partie de ce show inclut des effets stroboscopiques. ********** English ********** Around the 2000s, it was impossible to imagine the alternative scene without HIM’s Heartagram. The Finnish gothic rock band made their mark and ‘love metal’ was established. When the curtain fell for the band, 20 years later, there was a void but now it has been filled again. Frontman Ville Valo went solo and released his debut album Neon Noir in early 2023. The future of the genre has been assured. In the spring of 2024, VV will head down to AB for a show full of new work and old HIM-classics.A Liveurope concert:The first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote emerging European music. ********** Français ********** Aux alentours des années 2000, le heartagram de HIM inondait la scène alternative.
