Expo Circular Times
Description
*** Nederlands ***

The title of the collage expo 'Circular Times' consists of the elements 'time(s)' and 'circle or circular'. Time is a very broad and universal concept and can be interpreted in numerous ways. The circle is a powerful primal symbol and is both beginning and end. The combination of these 2 elements is the guiding principle of the expo. Both artists want to give an artistic expression to a long period of 2 difficult corona years in which time did not pass linearly as normal, but circularly through the successive viral waves and accompanying measures. Also the space around us became circular because of the freedom restrictions and bubbles in which we had to reinvent ourselves, without knowing for how long.We look forward to the end of the tunnel, symbolized by a circular exit to a better future. Man has always been fascinated by recurring (natural) phenomena, of circular passages of celestial bodies in space. We live in the 21st century and think we are unique as contemporaries: but history shows that many things repeat themselves again: circular movements throughout the ages of mankind, circular movements in nature, circular movements of the planets in our solar system.Even the sustainable future model for our economy is visualized by a circle. Circular economy is a model of production and consumption, in which existing materials and products are (re)used for as long as possible, in order to extend the life cycle of products to the almost infinite. Collage is pre-eminently an artistic discipline in which recycling is central. Scraps of paper, leftover wrapping paper, an old newspaper, a magazine, a used envelope, ... it can all be reused and given a new purpose, reborn in a collage.
