Pas étonnant pour un auteur-compositeur-interprète découvert en pleine Longue ride (2018), son inusable premier album. Où le natif de Fribourg, derrière son allure de motard en combi, déjouait déjà tous les codes stylistiques – de la synthwave contemplative à la variété synthétique. Car d’un album à l’autre, Muddy Monk prend un malin plaisir à faire voyager son auditoire, sans jamais se répéter et pour mieux se renouveler. Quitte à appuyer désormais sur l’accélérateur deux ans seulement après Ultra Dramatic Kid (2022), fascinante expérimentation bruitiste, immense exploration rythmique.

Entre-temps, après deux mémorables concerts à la Salle Pleyel à l’automne 2021 et à la Cigale au printemps 2022 (des salles prestigieuses qu’il découvre directement sur scène), le chanteur s’est envolé sur la lune avec son pote Jimmy Whoo pour un maxi à quatre mains, To The Moon (2023), croisant electronica rêveuse et pop rétrofuturiste.« En réaction à Ultra Dramatic Kid, Muddy Monk renoue avec ses instincts de mélodiste et retrouve instantanément le bon tempo avec son nouveau single Lili Pacino qui laisse présager des ballades contemplatives et des ritournelles tubesques. »
