.

In lines with the themes explored in the Dis-placed exhibition, the Konschthal is screening Ravi Sandberg’s short film and documentary Fantoomwijk.

The Tweebosbuurt in Rotterdam has been transformed into a ghost town. After residents were uprooted to make way for luxury homes, all that remains are ruins and rubble. Fantoomwijk gives a voice to the residents, who recall their own neighborhood that has been erased from the city. Using different filming styles such as infrared and drone shots, the viewer is constantly shifted from one opposing perspective to another, between the system and those affected by it. The film examines how perceptions determine policies and the resulting impact on those affected. Filmmaker Ravi Sandberg won the RTM Pitch Prize at IFFR 2022, which enabled him to make this film.

Ravi Sandberg is a Rotterdam-based filmmaker of Indian and Dutch origin. In 2018, he graduated from HKU Utrecht University of the Arts with his film Rain, for which he won the NL Filmfund Wildcard and which has screened at various national and international film festivals. With the Filmfund Wildcard budget, Ravi made Seeds, which screened at the Netherlands Film Festival in 2021 and was nominated for the Best First Film award. In 2022, Ravi won the RTM Pitch Award at the Festival.
