PRESENTS: Private donations to the S.M.A.K.

Jan Hoetplein 1, 9000 Ghent, East Flanders, Belgium

Description

A museum's collection grows in two different ways. Either the museum purchases works of art for itself, or it receives donations from home or abroad. In this exhibition, the S.M.A.K. is displaying a selection of the special donations it has received during the past five years.

In recent years, the museum's collection increased in size thanks to the generosity of its donors. These donations not only underpin the expansion of the collection, but also serve to acknowledge the policies being pursued, while furthering the future of the museum. The museum's donors include private collectors, galleries, estates and artists themselves. This exhibition is a gesture of appreciation by the museum towards its donors.
