Description
Katarina Serulus is an independent researcher and curator. In 2016 she defended at the University of Antwerp her PhD thesis entitled Design & Politics: The Public Promotion of Industrial Design in Postwar Belgium (1950-1986) (Leuven University Press, 2018). In 2020, as project manager at the Flanders Architecture Institute (VAI) in Antwerp, she initiated the Wiki Women Design project, which has brought many of history’s overlooked women architects and designers to light. She has also curated several exhibitions on design and architecture: Panorama. A History of Modern Design in Belgium (Design Museum Brussels, 2017), Designing the Night. Graphic Design and Belgian Club Culture 1970-2000 (Design Museum Brussels, 2019), Léon Stynen, architect (VAI, 2018), Night Fever : Designing Club Culture 1960-Today.

En 2016, elle a soutenu à l’Université d’Anvers sa thèse de doctorat Design & Politics : The Public Promotion of Industrial Design in Postward Belgium (1950-1986) (Presses universitaires de Louvain, 2018). En 2020, elle a initié le projet Wiki Women Design à l’Institut flamand d’architecture (VAI) d’Anvers qui a permis de sortir de l’ombre de nombreuses architectes et designers femmes de l’histoire. Elle a également été commissaire de plusieurs expositions sur le design et l’architecture : Panorama. Une histoire du design moderne en Belgique (Design Museum Brussels, 2017), Designing the Night. Katarina Serulus is onafhankelijk onderzoeker en curator. In 2016 verdedigde ze aan de Universiteit Antwerpen haar doctoraat getiteld Design & Politics. The Public Promotion of Industrial Design in Postwar Belgium (1950-1986) (Universitaire Pers Leuven, 2018). In 2020 initieerde ze als projectmanager bij het Vlaams Architectuurinstituut (VAI) in Antwerpen het project Wiki Women Design, dat veel vrouwelijke architecten en ontwerpers uit de geschiedenis uit de schaduw heeft gehaald. Ze heeft ook verschillende tentoonstellingen over design en architectuur gecureerd: Panorama. A History of Modern Design in Belgium (Design Museum Brussels, 2017) en Designing the Night.
