BANAD Festival - Linthout School Complex - Public School no. 13

Henri Jacobs designed this functional school complex with great attention to detail, as was often the case in Art Nouveau buildings. The first part of the complex opened in 1913 and the rest in 1922. The facades around the courtyards inside the blocks are a polychromatic blend of Belgian bluestone and yellow and red bricks. Jacobs commissioned Privat Livemont and Maurice Langaskens to decorate the large playgrounds. During the Biennial Event, the building will host an Art Nouveau and Art Deco antiques fair and a heritage restorers' fair.

Henri Jacobs a conçu ici un complexe scolaire fonctionnel où le souci du détail, comme souvent dans les constructions Art nouveau, n'est pas pour autant négligé. Les premiers bâtiments ont été inaugurés en 1913 et les suivants en 1922. Le complexe se développe en intérieur d'îlot et présente des façades polychromes, résultat du mariage de la pierre bleue et des briques jaunes et rouges. C'est à Privat Livemont et à Maurice Langaskens qu'il revint d'orner les grands préaux. Le bâtiment accueille une foire d'objets Art nouveau et Art déco et un salon de restaurateurs du patrimoine.

Henri Jacobs ontwierp hier een functioneel scholencomplex met toch veel oog voor detail, zoals vaak het geval is in art-nouveaugebouwen. De eerste gebouwen werden ingewijd in 1913 en de volgende in 1922. Het complex wordt omgeven door huizen en heeft veelkleurige gevels, het resultaat van de combinatie van blauwe steen en rode en gele bakstenen. Privat Livemont en Maurice Langaskens mochten de grote, overdekte speelplaatsen decoreren. Het gebouw herbergt een beurs voor art-nouveau- en art-decovoorwerpen en een beurs voor erfgoedrestaurateurs.
