BANAD Festival - Seulen House (The British International School of Brussels)

This mansion in a rather floral Art Deco style was designed by the architect Jules Libois in 1930 for Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Seulen. The woodwork, fireplaces, wrought iron grilles and magnificent stained glass skylights that provide abundant natural light have been preserved. Today, the building is home to the British International School of Brussels which has been providing education to English-speaking children aged 3 to 11 since 2000. The children benefit from the beautiful setting and add their own touch and drawings, demonstrating how this building is occupied and still appreciated at present.

De style Art Déco à tendance floral, cet hôtel de maître fut conçu par l'architecte Jules Libois en 1930 pour Monsieur et Madame Edmond Seulen. La menuiserie, les cheminées, les grilles en fer forgé ou les remarquables lanterneaux en vitrail ouvragé offrant un abondant éclairage naturel ont été conservés. Aujourd'hui, la maison abrite The British International School of Brussels qui offre, depuis l'an 2000, un enseignement aux enfants anglophones âgés de 3 à 11 ans. Profitant de ce cadre original, les enfants continuent à lui donner vie en y ajoutant de nombreux dessins, illustrant l'occupation contemporaine de ce bâtiment, toujours apprécié.
