Laraaji
Based in New York City, Laraaji began playing music on the streets in the 1970s, improvising trance-inducing jams on a modified autoharp processed through various electronic effects. Influential British musician and record producer Brian Eno saw him playing one night in Washington Square Park and invited him to record an album of ambient music at his studio. Laraaji went on to release a prolific series of albums for a wide variety of labels, many of which he recorded himself at home and sold as cassettes during his street performances. In recent years his profile has enjoyed a renaissance via a series of new and reissued recordings on the All Saints label, as well as worldwide performances, laughter meditation workshops and deep listening sessions.

Indrė
Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė is a Lithuanian singer, kanklės (Baltic psaltery, a traditional string instrument) player and composer who creates otherworldly soundscapes, weaving together ambient textures, echoes of Lithuanian folk songs, and electronic elements. Her music drifts between the intimate and the ethereal, inviting listeners into a space that feels both ancient and timeless. Indrė has a long-standing collaboration with Belgian guitarist and electronic artist Bert Cools, called Merope. Their most recent album Vėjula, released on Stroom and granvat, has been described as "stylistically fluid and carrying transcendent allure", exploring themes of nature, mythology and transformation. Indrė’s creative reach extends through collaborations with artists such as Shahzad Ismaily, Laraaji, Jessika Kenney, Gyða Valtýsdóttir and Solo Cissokho. She also composes for theatre and film.

Walrus
Born and raised in the well-known cradle of electronic music culture called Belgium, Walrus has for the past twenty years been challenging our perceptions of club and ambient music with a fiery passion, dedication and sincerity. He is an accomplished dj (and former Fuse resident), he organises the Beautiful Freaks parties, he founded the Basic Moves label and he manages the second hand sales for Crevette Records – impressive to say the least. More recently Walrus moved to London to continue his musical journey, so we are extra happy to welcome his idiosyncratic selections back to beurscafé for a free-for-all ambient set.

Laraaji
Basé à New York, Laraaji a commencé à jouer de la musique dans les rues dans les années 1970, improvisant des jams hypnotiques sur une autoharpe modifiée, traitée à travers divers effets électroniques. Un soir, l’influent musicien et producteur britannique Brian Eno l’a découvert en train de jouer à Washington Square Park et l’a invité à enregistrer un album de musique ambient dans son studio. Laraaji a ensuite sorti une série prolifique d’albums sur une grande variété de labels, dont beaucoup qu'il a lui-même enregistrés chez lui et vendus sous forme de cassettes lors de ses performances de rue. Ces dernières années, il a connu une véritable renaissance avec la réédition de certains de ses enregistrements sur le label All Saints, ainsi qu’avec ses performances à travers le monde, ses ateliers de méditation par le rire et ses sessions deep listening.

Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė est une chanteuse, joueuse de kanklės (psaltérion balte, un instrument à cordes pincées traditionnel) et compositrice lituanienne qui crée des paysages sonores envoûtants, mêlant textures ambient, échos de chants folkloriques lituaniens et éléments électroniques. Sa musique oscille entre l’intime et l’éthéré, invitant le public à entrer dans un espace à la fois ancien et intemporel. Indrė collabore depuis longtemps avec le guitariste et artiste électronique belge Bert Cools au sein du projet Merope. Leur dernier album, Vėjula, sorti sur Stroom et granvat, a été décrit comme « stylistiquement fluide et empreint d’une aura transcendante », explorant des thèmes liés à la nature, à la mythologie et à la transformation. Son univers artistique s’étend à travers des collaborations avec Shahzad Ismaily, Laraaji, Jessika Kenney, Gyða Valtýsdóttir et Solo Cissokho. Elle compose également pour le théâtre et le cinéma.

Walrus
Né et élevé en Belgique, un des berceaux de la culture de la musique électronique en Europe, Walrus défie depuis vingt ans nos perceptions du clubbing et de la musique ambient avec une passion, une sincérité et un dévouement sans faille. DJ accompli (et ancien résident du Fuse), il est aussi l’organisateur des soirées Beautiful Freaks, le fondateur du label Basic Moves et le manager des ventes de disques d’occasion pour Crevette Records – rien de moins qu’impressionnant. Plus récemment, Walrus s’est installé à Londres pour poursuivre son parcours (musical), ce qui rend son retour au beurscafé encore plus précieux. Pour l’occasion, il nous offrira un set ambient inclassable, fidèle à son univers singulier.

Gebaseerd in New York begon Laraaji als straatmuzikant in de jaren ‘70 met het spelen van trance-opwekkende improvisaties op een aangepaste autoharp die hij door verschillende elektronische effecten liet gaan. Op een avond zag de invloedrijke Britse muzikant en producer Brian Eno hem spelen in Washington Square Park en nodigde hem uit om een ambientalbum op te nemen in zijn studio. Laraaji bracht vervolgens een indrukwekkende reeks albums uit op verschillende labels, waarvan hij er veel zelf thuis opnam en als cassette verkocht tijdens zijn straatoptredens. De laatste jaren beleeft hij een heropleving dankzij nieuwe en heruitgebrachte opnames op het All Saints-label, evenals optredens over de hele wereld, lachmeditatieworkshops en sessies deep listening.

Ze verweeft ambienttexturen, echo’s van Litouwse volksliederen en elektronische elementen, waardoor haar muziek zweeft tussen het intieme en het etherische. Indrė werkt al lange tijd samen met de Belgische gitarist en elektronische artiest Bert Cools onder de naam Merope. Hun meest recente album Vėjula, uitgebracht op Stroom en granvat, wordt omschreven als "stijlvol veelzijdig en met een transcendente aantrekkingskracht", en verkent thema’s als natuur, mythologie en transformatie. Geboren en getogen in België, een bekende bakermat van de elektronische muziekscene, daagt Walrus al twintig jaar lang met passie, toewijding en oprechtheid onze perceptie van club- en ambientmuziek uit. Hij is een wereldwijd gevraagde dj (en voormalig resident van Fuse), organiseert de Beautiful Freaks community parties, richtte het label Basic Moves op en beheert de tweedehandsverkoop bij Crevette Records – op zijn zachtst gezegd indrukwekkend. Recentelijk verhuisde Walrus naar Londen om zijn (muzikale) weg verder te zetten, dus we zijn extra blij om hem weer te verwelkomen in beurscafé voor een eigenzinnige ambientset.
