Synopsis:

"THE ANCHOR" plunges into the abyss of the human mind through a cinematic odyssey, combining archive testimonies and a polar expedition. The fruit of several years’ artistic research, the project fuses theory, practice and personal accounts to reveal an introspective vision of psychosis. In the icy embrace of the immense Arctic landscapes, intimate accounts of mental torment are transformed into climatic metaphors, calling attention to the fragility of our psychological and ecological equilibrium.

Director's Biography:

Jen Debauche lives and works in Brussels (1978). She is a film/radio director, researcher, teacher and founding member of LABO BxL, a shared film workshop focusing on photochemical practices. She directed Person’na (1st prize Courtisane 2003) and L’œil du cyclope (Prix du festival des cinémas différents de Paris 2016). Her work also takes the form of installations, performances and radio creations. Her films and other projects have travelled to several international venues and festivals (including IFFRotterdam, FID Marseille, festival des Inattendus Lyon, New York Film Festival Views from the avant garde, Image forum Sakuhin, Independiente Festival Lima, Alternative Film/Video Festival Belgrade, etc).

Synopsis :

« L'ANCRE » plonge dans les abîmes de l'esprit humain à travers une odyssée cinématographique, mêlant témoignages d'archives et expédition polaire. Fruit d'une recherche artistique de plusieurs années, le projet fusionne théorie, pratique et témoignages pour révéler une vision introspective de la psychose. Dans l'étreinte glacée des immenses paysages arctiques, les récits intimes de tourments mentaux se transforment en métaphores climatiques, attirant l'attention sur la fragilité de notre équilibre psychologique et écologique.

Biographie de la réalisatrice :

Jen Debauche vit et travaille à Bruxelles (1978). Elle est réalisatrice de films et de créations radiophoniques, chercheuse, enseignante et membre fondatrice de LABO BxL, un atelier de cinéma partagé axé sur les pratiques photochimiques.

Elle a réalisé Person’na (1er prix Courtisane 2003) et L’œil du cyclope (Prix du festival des cinémas différents de Paris 2016). Son travail prend également la forme d’installations, de performances et de créations radiophoniques.
