Formé par des figures emblématiques telles qu’Eugene Robinson (Oxbow), Xabier Iriondo, Franz Valente (Il Teatro Degli Orrori) et Carlo Veneziano (One Dimensional Man), Buñuel est un groupe qui ne fait pas dans la demi-mesure. Leur son ? Un rock bruyant et turbulent, un déluge de rythmes effrénés, de salves de batterie, de guitares déchaînées et de vocaux puissants. Après trois albums, dont Mansuetude sorti en 2024, le groupe vous donne rendez-vous au Botanique pour une performance sans compromis. Un son brut, ancré dans l'esprit du cinéma de Luis Buñuel, où l’échec et la vengeance résonnent dans un chaos maîtrisé.

BUÑUEL werd gevormd door Eugene Robinson (Oxbox), Xabier Iriondo, Franz Valente (Il Teatro Degli Orrori) en Carlo Veneziano (One Dimensional Man). De band wordt gekenmerkt door hun turbulente noise-rock, en met een eerste plaat voor nieuwe label Overdrive op zak, is de band een nieuw hoofdstuk van hun muzikale reis gestart. De band creëert het geluid van een moeilijke situatie die wordt verergerd door de onwil en het onvermogen om braafjes mee te doen.

Als je het nodig hebt om muziek in hokjes te plaatsen, geef BUÑUEL dan een plek onder de noemer ‘heavy’. Maar niet het soort voorspelbare heavy: dit is eerder post-punk, proto heavy en arty up the ass. Kunstzinnig als in avant-gardistische noise.

The band formed by Eugene Robinson (Oxbow), Xabier Iriondo, Franz Valente (Il Teatro Degli Orrori), Carlo Veneziano (One Dimensional Man), is characterized by a turbulent-noise rock and they’re more than ready to start a new chapter of their musical journey. After 3 records, the last one released in 2022, the band signed for Overdrive records. A new milestone is going to be released on 2024.

BUÑUEL is the sound of a difficult situation made worse by an unwillingness and an inability to play nice. If slotting it in a genre makes it easier for you to understand, just so you have something to file it under, mark it down as Heavy. With a capital H. But not heavy that’s in any way predictable, BUÑUEL’s amalgam of angular rhythms, drum salvos, blitzkrieging guitars and vocals that sound more like threats than promises is post-punk, proto heavy and arty up the ass. Arty as in avant-garde noise.

Named after the Spanish filmmaker Luis Buñuel, the only filmmaker to first make his bones by making good on what happens when straight razors meet eyeballs. About BUÑUEL’s newes Mansuetude, Eugene said “It’s probably our good fortune that the record Mansuetude, coming to us in a dream as it was, continues with the Bunuelian darkscapes of failure, and fixed revenge. Really iD based horror”.
