THEME : Banking architecture: take a guided tour of the museum, from cellar to attic

For this year’s Nocturnes, we’re getting reacquainted with the museum’s heritage: its building. Visitors will be invited to discover the eclectic architecture of the museum’s premises, which previously housed a commercial bank, thanks to our brand new, in-depth guided tours! Our guides will take you on a journey to every corner of the building, even the most inaccessible ones. You’ll even get a glimpse of designs and plans from the archives.

Prefer to discover the museum yourself?

You can also choose to visit the museum at your own leisure (no reservation required). Our permanent collection is usually open to the public on weekdays from 09:00 to 17:00. But if you’re more of a night owl, then come visit us for free on Thursday 24 April, from 18:00 to 22:00!
Come and discover the history of money, our numismatic collection and other objects from our collection, learn about the role of a central bank, and find out how euro banknotes are produced and protected against forgery! All this in a fabulous setting: a magnificent 19th building boasting many eclectic architectural features – the secrets of which will be revealed on our special Nocturnes guided tours! But that’s not all...


From the storage: presentation of plans and drawings of the building

To highlight further the architectural heritage of the museum’s premises, we are inviting visitors to discover a selection of plans, sculptures and designs that have never previously been put on public display. These are being exhibited especially for Nocturnes in the atrium of the museum. So, even if you choose to take a self-guided tour of the museum, you’ll be able to discover a little more about this architectural gem in the heart of Brussels.

Pour notre Nocturne annuelle, le musée renoue avec son héritage patrimonial : son bâtiment. Abritant anciennement une banque commerciale, venez découvrir l'architecture éclectique du bâtiment du musée grâce à des visites guidées inédites et détaillées ! Suivez nos guides dans les moindres recoins du bâtiment, même les plus inaccessibles. Dessins et plans d'archive agrémenteront également votre visite.

Vous pouvez également décider de visiter le musée à votre aise par vous-même (aucune réservation nécessaire). Une occasion idéale pour découvrir notre collection permanente habituellement accessible en semaine de 9h à 17h. Gratuitement, vous pourrez jouer les oiseaux de nuit ce jeudi 24 avril de 18h à 22h!
Ainsi, venez découvrir l’histoire de la monnaie, la collection numismatique et autres multiples objets de nos collections ou encore apprendre les rôles d’une banque centrale et découvrir comment nos billets en euros sont fabriqués et sécurisés ! Le tout dans un cadre fabuleux : un magnifique bâtiment d’architecture éclectique du 19e siècle dont tous les secrets seront dévoilés dans les visites guidées… mais pas seulement !


En dehors des réserves : installation de plans et dessins du bâtiment

Afin de mettre en avant le patrimoine architectural de notre bâtiment, nous vous proposons de découvrir des plans, sculptures et dessins inédits installés pour l’occasion dans l’atrium du musée. Ainsi, même en visite libre, il vous sera possible d’en découvrir un peu plus sur ce joyau architectural en plein cœur de Bruxelles.

THEMA : Bankarchitectuur: een bezoek van de kelder tot de zolder van een historisch gebouw 

Voor onze jaarlijkse nocturne zet het museum haar erfgoed opnieuw in de kijker: dit keer haar eigen gebouw. Vroeger was er in ons gebouw een commerciële bank gevestigd. Kom de eclectische architectuur van het museumgebouw ontdekken dankzij onze originele, gedetailleerde rondleidingen! Volg onze gidsen tot in alle hoeken en kamers van het gebouw, zelfs de meest ontoegankelijke. Ook archieftekeningen en plattegronden zullen je bezoek verder verrijken.

Of een bezoek op je eigen tempo?

Je kunt het museum ook op eigen houtje bezoeken (reserveren is dan niet nodig). Het is de perfecte gelegenheid om onze permanente collectie te ontdekken, die normaal enkel op weekdagen van 9 tot 17 uur te bezichtigen is. Je kunt gratis een avondlijk bezoek brengen op donderdag 24 april van 18.00 tot 22.00 uur!
Kom en ontdek de geschiedenis van het geld, de numismatische collectie en de vele andere voorwerpen in onze collectie, of leer over de rol van een centrale bank en ontdek hoe onze eurobankbiljetten worden gemaakt en beveiligd! Dit alles in een fantastische omgeving: een prachtig gebouw met eclectische 19e-eeuwse architectuur, waarvan de geheimen worden onthuld tijdens de rondleidingen... maar dat is nog niet alles!


Opgediept uit onze reserves: de plannen en tekeningen van het gebouw

Om het architecturale erfgoed van ons gebouw in de kijker te zetten, nodigen we je uit om de plannen, beeldhouwwerken en tekeningen te ontdekken die voor de gelegenheid in het atrium van het museum worden geïnstalleerd. Zelfs tijdens een rondleiding op eigen houtje kom je meer te weten over dit architecturale juweel in het hart van Brussel.
