Ratko Delorko (1959): A selection of pieces from 24 MINIS

Ratko Delorko, a pianist, composer, educator, and writer, is known as a composer of the 'Fantastic Realism'.

He discovered the piano as his favorite toy at the tender age of three. Three years later, he began to see the piano as a creative tool for crafting his youthful compositions.

His professional background was shaped by studying piano, composition, and conducting in Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Munich.

Delorko has performed in prestigious venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf, the Cologne Philharmonie, the Gasteig in Munich, the Philharmonie in Essen, Hamburg's Musikhalle, the Glocke in Bremen, London's St. Martin in the Fields, Palau de la Música in Valencia, Beijing's Concert Hall, Shanghai's Oriental Arts Center, Cairo Opera House, and at events like the Mozartfest Oberösterreich and Mozartfest Istanbul. One of his most extreme experiences includes performing in the Dachstein Ice Cave.

As a composer, his primary efforts focus on music for solo piano, piano duet, chamber music, electronic music, opera, and ballet.

He currently lectures at the Frankfurt University of Music and formerly taught at the Mozarteum Salzburg (2019–2021). Over the years, he has conducted masterclasses and served as a guest professor in Austria, Malaysia, Russia, Italy, Croatia, the US, Vietnam, and China—a practice he continues to this day.

Delorko has authored books on piano teaching and technique, including a publication with Staccato-Verlag, The Nuts and Bolts of Online Piano Teaching (2023), and an upcoming release in 2024, Ratko Delorko’s Piano Police: A 40-Page Guide to Better Playing.

His MIDI_Sonata for Piano and Synthetic Sounds earned a silver medallion at the Global Music Awards.
