Over the course of two evenings, composition collective NONE invites you to explore, experience and experiment with spatial sound. For the occasion the Goudenzaal is equipped with a custom 3D sound system and becomes an expanded sonic playground for everyone who is as curious as the line-up of artists to listen differently.
This collective endeavor is inspired by the Deep Listening approach, that simultaneously focuses attention on environmental and musical sound. In other words, the skill to play music not just “in” a space, but “with” a space. Deep Listening is a music theory that was developed by Texan composer Pauline Oliveiros around 1990 – after playing in an underground water reservoir! – and connects feminism, psychology, improvisation, meditation, teaching and electronic music.
Back in 2015 Pauline Oliveiros played a concert in Beursschouwburg, less than one year before sadly passing away at the age of 84yo.

about
Mika Oki
Mika Oki is a visual artist, Dj and producer born in Paris, most likely under a full moon. With a background in sculpture and electro-acoustic music, she explores the notion of intangible spaces and emotional landscapes through AV installations, music and mixes. As a DJ, Mika Oki knows how to surprise dance floors and other art spaces (at festivals like Dekmantel, Atonal, Les Garages Numériques or Rhizome) with a selection ranging from jungle, uk bass and gqom to dark electro, mesmerising trance and heavy EBM. By animating a wide range of voice samples, experimental sounds, electroacoustic music extracts and ambient textures, she plays like a sculptor creating an unsettling atmosphere. She also heads the Brussels chapter of LYL Radio, from Brasserie Atlas to your ears and the rest of the world.

Le Motel & Yvonne Quỳnh-Lan Dương / Visuals by Antoine Jaunard
One of Brussels' most cuddly, badass and visionary mayors of the dancefloor, Le Motel keeps on building a whole world of sight and sound that takes in the many and varied corners of the planet. As a music producer, film composer and DJ his versatility has taken him to festivals and clubs all over the world as naturally as he has ventured out to the less accessible areas of the globe as a field recordist. After gathering sounds in Vietnam, Le Motel assembled an album in collaboration with many of the people he met while traveling. The result is Odd Numbers / Số Lẻ, a rich ambient panorama that takes in multiple scenes and perspectives, from Hanoi’s streets to mountainside Hmong communities, and from rumbling mopeds to the contemplative verse of the poet Phapxa Chan. It’s a singular testament to the power of listening together.

FORM.NULL
Arthur Song is a sound designer, music composer, and human bean from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, currently based in Liège. Echoing the mantra of “take no form, hold no shape, surrender now, disintegrate”, his FORM.NULL project tries to carve out a space where more self-reflective creations could emerge — so far with pleasantly mixed results. Drone-heavy, cinematic and dystopian, Arthur names brutalist architecture and the complexities of being human as inspirations for the four current FORM.NULL releases. The most recent one, Drone Diaries I that came out in 2024, is a collection of one-take recordings from a daily sonic journaling ritual with his modular synth.

Thomas Vaquie
Toulouse-born and Brussels-based Thomas Vaquié is a musician and composer dedicates most of his time to composition and postproduction for European cinema. This in turn allows him to work on very experimental and often large-scale projects in public space, together with other (audio)visual artists such as Joanie Lemercier or Romain Tardy. Often taking the shape of monumental projection-mapping installations, he has created “sonic images” for projects around the globe, from South-Korea to Poland, consistently trying to extend visual experiences into physical ones.

Loup Mormont
Loup Mormont is a Brussels-based electronic music producer crafting scores for theater and film for over a decade. He holds a master’s degree in electroacoustic composition from Conservatoire Royal de Mons, where he currently teaches too, and has years of experience as a sound technician for theatre. In his solo project, sound cuts through space with razor-sharp precision—an intricate fusion of crystalline ambient textures, serrated drone waves, and cinematic soundscapes, balancing deep immersion with weightless minimalism.

Sylvie Bouteiller
Sylvie Bouteiller is a Belgian composer & acid etched contact mic improviser (which involves piezoelectric crystals, and most definitely is musical witchcraft). Starting from a pedagogical approach based on listening, Sylvie takes part in workshops, notably with Influx (Musiques et Recherches), and is a sonic arts teacher at ERG. Since 2013 she composed electroacoustic music for experimental films, acousmatic pieces and dance performances. Her latest research focuses mainly on noise music improvisations and composition, and on experimental techniques that bring sound and visual dimensions into contact with one another. In her artists' studio, sound takes on a physical dimension, and listening opens up to the phenomenology of waves.

Before Tigers
Formerly known as Squeaky Lobster from the trailblazing Vlek Record crew, Before Tigers is the current moniker of Brussels-based composer, producer, and sound designer Laurent Delforge. His background as a graduate in electroacoustic music of the Royal Conservatory of Belgium becomes tangible in the pointillist precision of his craft, incorporating a vast palette of frequencies and textures into vivid, adventurous sound designs. It seems to be Before Tigers’ preferred strategy to build bridges over the (imagined?) gaps between digital, physical and/or sonic experiences.
