Shagan (Bulgaria)

Shagan, of Bulgarian descent, inherits his sense of rhythm from his grandfather. In Russia, he gains recognition as a rapper and contemporary dancer, but his quest for new sounds takes him even further. The Chinese guzheng and the shakuhachi flute introduce him to new sonic landscapes. The guzheng, a distant relative of instruments like the Russian gusli, the Buryat-Mongolian yatga, the Japanese koto, the Korean gayageum, and other Asian zithers, becomes a central element in his music. Vladislav Shagan pushes the traditional boundaries of the guzheng in unexpected ways, blending it virtuously with throat singing, percussion, flutes, and various other instruments. His repertoire gracefully straddles the line between East and West, balancing beauty and power, tenderness and strength, delicate melodies and deep, resonant vibrations, with the ancient guzheng at the heart of it all.

// For the past 20 years, Isabelle has been hosting intimate concerts in her living room. It all started with a Finnish music performance as part of the Living Room Music Festival. Isabelle and Bart are both passionate about music and semi-professional musicians (vocals, double bass, bass guitar, chromatic accordion). A beautiful collection of instruments fills their home, including a grand piano. Their house, built in 1920 by architect J. Van Den Eng, features touches of Art Deco. Some of the stained glass windows have been restored by the renowned Majerus workshop in Etterbeek.



Living Room Music Winter Sessions
As part of its nomadic season, Muziekpublique presents the Living Room Music Winter Sessions. 19 concerts in apartments across the 19 municipalities of Brussels. 19 homes opening their doors, 19 intimate evenings of live music to experience traditional tunes from all corners of the world, and the sheer joy of sharing the love of music with neighbors, friends, or family.

En Russie, il se fait un nom en tant que rappeur et danseur contemporain, mais sa quête de nouveaux sons l’emmène encore plus loin. La guzheng chinoise et la flûte shakuhachi lui ouvrent de nouveaux horizons sonores. La guzheng, un lointain parent d’instruments tels que le gusli russe, le yatga bouriate-mongol, le koto japonais, le gayageum coréen et d’autres cithares asiatiques, devient un élément central de sa musique. Vladislav Shagan repousse les frontières traditionnelles de la guzheng de manière surprenante, la mêlant avec virtuosité au chant de gorge, aux percussions, aux flûtes et à divers autres instruments. Son répertoire marche avec grâce entre l’Est et l’Ouest, équilibrant beauté et puissance, tendresse et force, mélodies délicates et vibrations profondes et résonnantes, avec la guzheng ancienne en cœur de son art.

Un concert chez Isabelle & Bart
Depuis 20 ans, Isabelle à l’habitude d’accueillir des concerts intimistes dans son salon. Et tout a commencé avec un concert de musique finlandaise dans le cadre du Living Room Music Festival. Isabelle et Bart sont tous deux amoureux de la musique et musiciens semi-professionnels (chant, contrebasse, guitare basse, accordéon chromatique). Une belle collection d’instruments occupe la maison, dont un piano à queue. Leur maison datée de 1920 a été construite par l’architecte J. Van Den Eng et est teintée de touches Art Déco. Certains des vitraux ont été rénovés par le célèbre atelier Majerus situé à Etterbeek.

Dans le cadre de sa saison nomade, Muziekpublique origanise les Living Room Music Winter Sessions. 19 concerts en appartements dans les 19 communes de Bruxelles. 19 foyers qui ouvrent leurs portes, 19 soirées intimistes chez l’habitant·e pour s’immerger dans la musique traditionnelle des 4 coins du monde et toujours le plaisir immense de partager l’amour des notes entre voisin·es, entre ami·es ou en famille.

Shagan, die van Bulgaarse afkomst is, ontvangt van zijn grootvader het gevoel voor ritme. In Rusland maakt hij naam als rapper en hedendaagse danser… Maar zijn zoektocht naar klanken voert hem verder. De Chinese guzheng en de shakuhachi-fluit openen nieuwe horizonten. De guzheng is een verre verwant van de Russische gusli, de Boeriatisch-Mongoolse yatga, de Japanse koto, de Koreaanse gayageum en andere Aziatische citers. Vladislav Shagan verlegt op verrassende wijze de traditionele grenzen van de guzheng en verweeft die op virtuoze wijze met (keel)zang, percussie, fluiten en andere muziekinstrumenten. Zijn repertoire zweeft tussen Oost en West, tussen schoonheid en gratie, tussen tederheid en strengheid, tussen verfijnde klanken en diepe vibraties met het eeuwenoude instrument, de guzheng, in een centrale rol.

Al twintig jaar organiseert Isabelle intieme concerten in haar eigen woonkamer. Het begon allemaal met een Fins muziekoptreden tijdens het Living Room Music Festival. Isabelle en Bart delen een grote passie voor muziek en zijn beiden semi-professionele muzikanten (zang, contrabas, basgitaar, chromatische accordeon). Hun huis ademt muziek, met een prachtige verzameling instrumenten, waaronder een vleugel. Het huis zelf, gebouwd in 1920 door architect J. Van Den Eng, heeft mooie Art Deco-accenten. Enkele glas-in-loodramen zijn gerestaureerd door het gerenommeerde atelier Majerus in Etterbeek.
