Description

Marieke brengt met haar doedelzakken een programma van folk- en barokmuziek. Samen met haar begeleider maak je op een speelse manier kennis met deze muziek. De verschillende werken worden zowel solo als in duo gespeeld. Een unieke kans om mensen van jong tot oud in aanraking te brengen met de doedelzak en de rijke klankwereld van het instrument.

Our audience favorite, a special guest from the Harry Potter films and universe, will make the concert unforgettable with all kinds of fun and good humor – as a popular presenter he speaks about his experiences as an actor/actress in Harry Potter, as well as about friendship, adventure, and love in the dangerous world of magicians. Visitors can expect to be enchanted by advanced light and laser technology as well as a unique sound dimension that is guaranteed to leave you with goosebumps. The visual and magical effects are set to let the hearts of all Harry Potter fans beat a little faster, while listening to the concert. John Williams (“Star Wars”, “ET”, “Indiana Jones”, “Jurassic Park”) composed the music for the first three films, like the famous “Hedwig’s Theme”, the leitmotif of the Harry Potter films, and “Double Trouble”, as well as the funny “Aunt Marge’s Waltz” and “Witches, Wands and Wizards”. Titles like “Hogwarts Hymn” by Patrick Doyle, from the fourth Harry Potter film, remind the audience of the mysterious and dark world of the Triwizard Tournament. Nicholas Hooper has composed “Dumbledore’s Farewell” for the fifth and sixth Harry Potter films. He helped to shape and mature the Harry Potter music. Alexandre Desplat created “Lily’s Theme” and has composed the music for the last two installments of the film series – a grand and unforgettable finale and musical experience. ********** English ********** What do an architect, a secretary, a poet’s son and a friend with a stutter have in common? The answer to this riddle lies in the title of this concert. In his Enigma Variations, Edward Elgar pays a teasing tribute to his friends, colleagues and loved ones through a series of variations bearing their initials or colourful nicknames: R.B.T., Dorabella, W.N. and Nimrod. All the variations are based on a theme improvised by the composer one evening at the piano which his wife Alice had greatly enjoyed. Elgar is also said to have encrypted the score … Although the enigma remains unsolved, the composition occupies a prominent place in the repertoire.   Two other pieces by British composers complete the programme. Benjamin Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, a song cycle based on several centuries of Anglo-Saxon poetry, invites us to familiarize ourselves with the charms and dangers of the night. Finally, the opening of The Tempest by Thomas Adès unleashes an almost savage intensity. With this Made in UK evening, Alain Altinoglu and the musicians of La Monnaie will conclude their symphonic season in the most beautiful manner: as in a dream. This inspires him to perform a mix of his own compositions and well-known works. The kanun (or qanûn) is a typical Eastern stringed and plucked instrument. The combination with trumpet and percussion is no coincidence either: they are important instruments in the Middle Eastern music scene. There, they are part of the historical heritage and express the fascinating, rich identity of Eastern Music. ********** Français ********** Ali Shaker dédie son amour et sa passion à la mise en lumière des musiques du Moyen-Orient. Lors de ce concert, il vous présente une sélection de ses propres compositions et d’œuvres connues sur son qanun, un instrument à cordes pincées, de la famille des cythares, propre à cette région du globe. Dans ce concert, le qanun dialoguera avec la trompette et les percussions, des instruments qui occupent une place prépondérante sur la scène musicale du Moyen-Orient. Ils font partie de son patrimoine historique et expriment l’identité fascinante et riche de la musique orientale. ********** Nederlands ********** Ali Shaker wil met dit concert de passie van de muziek uit het Midden-Oosten beklemtonen en verspreiden. Dit inspireert hem om een mix te brengen van eigen composities en bekende werken. De kanun (of qanûn) is een typisch Oosters snaar- en tokkelinstrument. De combinatie met trompet en percussie is ook geen toeval: het zijn belangrijke instrumenten in het muziekgebeuren van het Midden-Oosten. Zij behoren er tot het historisch erfgoed en verklanken de fascinerende, rijke identiteit van de Oosterse Muziek.

Il a été conçu pour se couler harmonieusement dans le paysage. L’immeuble de bureaux emblématique a été rénové par Caruso St John Architects, Bovenbouw Architectuur et en collaboration avec DDS+. Une grande partie du bâtiment a été rebaptisée MIX et fait honneur à son nouveau nom ! Vous y trouverez un hôtel quatre étoiles avec 140 chambres et 40 studios, un grand centre de fitness et de bien-être avec 2 piscines, un espace de co-working, 3 restaurants et des salles de réunion et d’événements. L’aménagement intérieur a été confié à l’Atelier Lionel Jadot. Jadot a fait appel à pas moins de 52 autres designers pour ce projet. Il a collaboré avec de nombreux designers travaillant aux Zaventem Ateliers et a invité d’autres designers belges et internationaux pour créer un ensemble passionnant. C’est ainsi que ce bâtiment emblématique a retrouvé une nouvelle vie… à découvrir ! La visite se termine à 16:30. ********** English ********** At each session, which consists of two parts, four different semi-finalists are scheduled. The first two play a Mozart concerto, to be chosen from concertos K. 207 (No. 1 in B flat major), K. 211 (No.2 in D major) and K. 218 (No. 4 in D major), accompanied by the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, conducted by Vahan Mardirossion. After the break, the other two perform their recital with piano accompaniment. The jury will choose one of two recital programmes proposed by the candidate, each including works of the candidate’s choice and the compulsory unpublished work written especially for this year’s edition (world première on Monday 13 May 2024). Flagey, Queen Elisabeth Competition € 30 > € 24 ********** Français ********** À chaque séance, qui comprend deux parties, le public entendra quatre demi-finalistes différents. Les deux premiers interpréteront un concerto de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, choisi parmi les concerti KV207 (n.1 en si bémol majeur), KV211 (n. 2 en ré majeur) et KV218 (n. 4 en ré majeur). Ils seront accompagnés par l’Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, dirigé par Vahan Mardirossian. Après la pause, deux autres violonistes présenteront leur récital avec piano. Les membres du jury feront le choix entre les deux programmes proposés par les candidats. Les récitals sont composés d'œuvres au choix et d'une œuvre inédite imposée, écrite spécialement pour cette session (création mondiale le lundi 13 mai 2024).
