Description

THE ARTIST // CARLOS RUIZ VALLE
Carlos Ruiz Valle (b. 1989, Campana, Argentina) has been passionate about art from an early age. Inspired by anime, he was later drawn to photography. As a teenager in Buenos Aires, he began documenting the city with his first mobile phone, a Nokia 5230, capturing its streets, people, and architecture. At 17, Ruiz joined a parkour group. As their popularity grew, Ruiz purchased a Canon 60D to document their performances. During this period, Ruiz began to recognise his distinct photographic vision.
At 23, Ruiz moved to Málaga to study photography at San Telmo Art School. He further broadened his artistic influences by visiting exhibitions in Madrid, Paris, Arles, and Amsterdam. The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic proved a turning point for Ruiz, sparking a personal project that led to self-exploration and the development of his distinctive photographic style.
The work of Ruiz is inspired by artists such as Jackson Pollock, Rembrandt, Herb Ritts, and Helmut Newton. Characterised by a medium-short portrait style, his photographs often incorporate his body and flowers. He captures raw, emotional moments using a Canon 80D. His art evolves with each project, revealing new layers of emotional depth.
