Aysha Abdou is 16 jaar, maar heeft afschuwelijke dingen gezien die haar Brusselse klasgenootjes - met een beetje geluk - nooit hoeven mee te maken. De oorlog in Gaza heeft de jonge Brusselse van dichtbij meegemaakt. Drie dagen geleden zette Aysha opnieuw voet op Belgische bodem. "Het was heel gevaarlijk om te vluchten. Maar volgens het Belgische consulaat was het nog gevaarlijker om te blijven."

In 'Surviving Gaza' sprak Rudi Vranckx in België met ooggetuigen die erin slaagden weg te vluchten uit Gaza.
Na de film gaan we in gesprek met elkaar en de familie Abdou.
Geniet daarna mee van een Palestijnse maaltijd, bereid door mama Abdou.

Deze vertoning maakt deel uit van United Screens for Palestine, een collectief van programmatoren, cultuurwerkers en culturele centra dat eind vorig jaar het initiatief Refusing to Disappear lanceerde. Deze reeks filmvertoningen viert de rijke Palestijnse cinematraditie.
