S’inspirant d'une affaire judiciaire autour d’un pas de danse nommé The Milly Rock, Jeremy Nedd interroge le droit d’auteur des gestes dans un monde digitalisé, entre liberté et rapports de pouvoir. Pour ce faire, quatre interprètes incarnent ce pas chaloupé et le transportent dans différentes atmosphères. Les gestes peuvent-ils appartenir à quelqu’un ? Et si c’est le cas, à qui cela profite-t-il ? Jeremy Nedd s’empare de ces questions avec comme point de départ la plainte déposée par le rappeur 2 Milly contre une société de jeux vidéo, réclamant des droits d’auteur sur un mouvement de danse (emote) ressemblant à "The Milly Rock” vendu sur le jeu en ligne Fortnite. Le chorégraphe de Brooklyn désormais basé à Bâle s’attaque ainsi à une question complexe du droit d’auteur en danse, renouvelée à l’ère de la viralité des danses Internet. Quatre interprètes reprennent cette courte danse au balancement nonchalant en jogging à capuche, créant une multiplicité de variations autour de cette phrase. Quelle poésie émerge de ces gestes qui fleurissent et circulent librement sur les réseaux sociaux ?

Jeremy Nedd gaat aan de slag met deze vragen, met als vertrekpunt de klacht die rapper 2 Milly indiende tegen een videogamebedrijf. Hij eiste auteursrechten op een dansbeweging (emote) die lijkt op "The Milly Rock", die door het spel Fortnite online verkocht werd. De in Brooklyn geboren choreograaf, nu gevestigd in Bazel, pakt hiermee een complexe kwestie aan rond auteursrechten in dans, die opnieuw actueel is geworden in het era waar dans viraal gaat. Vier dansers hernemen deze korte dans, nonchalant bewegend in joggingpakken met capuchons, waarbij ze talloze variaties creëren rond deze danspas. The Brooklyn choreographer now based in Basel tackles the complex issue of dance copyright, updated to the era of internet dances going viral. Four performers reprise the short dance of nonchalant swaying in hoodies, creating a multiplicity of variations around this phrase. What poetry will emerge from these moves that flourish and circulate freely on social media?
