Queens of the silent movies with Amandine Nkeshimana live on the piano
Description
Meet the stars of early cinema at the fourth edition of our Silent Movie Night!
This upcoming edition, our programme will focus on both male and female cross-dressing in silent film. It will trace the history of cross-dressing in cinema to its theatrical origins, look towards a more genderfluid future, and dive into its different genre conventions.
Queens Brussels' curator Roxane Baeyens and co-curator Martine Bouw selected the silent movies. Martine Bouw will give an introduction before the screening. She is an access employee at Cinematek. She is also a programmer and researcher at the Nederlands Silent Film Festival (NSFF), Eindhoven. Previously, she worked at Eye Filmmuseum, Amsterdam, as a film collection trainee, digital film registrar, booker, documentalist and digital ingest specialist.
Amandine Nkeshimana will accompany this exquisite selection of silent movies live on the grand piano.
