Anouk Kellner

Audio, textiles and architecture come together in the work of the young sound artist Anouk Kellner. With the installation Airchoir No. 2: Dirges for Coded Organ Voice she brings a special instrument to life in the Koudenbergkerk. Several inflatable volumes breathe in and out like lungs. They make their voices heard via the organ pipes to which they are connected. Like a choir, these inflatables resonate and interfere with each other in space. Their programmed compositions sound different each time, depending on the position of the visitor. Kellner explores the boundaries between the organic and the inorganic, between human emotion, religion and electronics. Her poetic Airchoir embodies a familiar contemporary duality: the human desire for connection in a world full of technology.

L'audio, le textile et l'architecture se rencontrent dans l'œuvre de la jeune artiste sonore Anouk Kellner. Dans l'installation Airchoir No. 2 : Dirges for Coded Organ Voices, elle fait résonner un instrument extraordinaire dans l'église du Coudenberg. Plusieurs volumes gonflables inspirent et expirent comme des poumons. Grâce aux tuyaux d'orgue auxquels ils sont reliés, ils font entendre leurs voix. Met de installatie Airchoir No. 2: Dirges for Coded Organ Voices brengt ze een bijzonder instrument tot klinken in de Koudenbergkerk. Meerdere opblaasbare volumes ademen in en uit als longen. Via de orgelpijpen waarmee ze verbonden zijn, laten ze hun stemmen horen. Als een koor resoneren en interfereren deze inflatables met elkaar in de ruimte. Hun geprogrammeerde composities klinken steeds anders, naargelang de positie van de bezoeker. Kellner onderzoekt de grenzen tussen het organische en het niet-organische, tussen menselijke emotie, religie en elektronica. Haar poëtische Airchoir belichaamt een vertrouwde hedendaagse dualiteit: het menselijke verlangen naar verbinding in een wereld vol technologie.
