Promising pianist Marco Mantovani demonstrates a profound musical affinity with Robert Schumann in his third album On the Shoulders of Giants (2024, Etcetera). In this concert, Mantovani plays Beethoven's expressive Piano Sonata No. 17 and Schumann's Fantasy in C major in which Beethoven's influence is clearly discernable. Schumann reworked the traditional sonata form – brought by Beethoven to its highest peaks – by turning the typical dramaturgy (fast, slow, fast) upside down and adding his own colours.

Dans son troisième album, On the Shoulders of Giants (2024, Etcetera), le pianiste Marco Mantovani, très prometteur, démontre une profonde affinité musicale avec Robert Schumann. Dans ce concert, Mantovani joue l'expressive Sonate pour piano n° 17 de Ludwig van Beethoven et la Fantaisie en do majeur de Schumann, dans laquelle l'influence de Beethoven se décèle clairement. Schumann a retravaillé la forme sonate traditionnelle – que Beethoven a portée à son apogée – en bouleversant la dramaturgie classique (rapide, lent, rapide) et en imposant ses propres couleurs.

Tijdens dit concert speelt Mantovani de expressieve Pianosonate nr. 17 van Ludwig van Beethoven en de Fantasie in C van Schumann waarin Beethovens invloed duidelijk hoorbaar is. Schumann herwerkte de traditionele sonatevorm – die Beethoven tot een hoogtepunt bracht – door de klassieke dramaturgie volledig om te draaien (snel, traag, snel) en zijn eigen kleuren toe te voegen.
