When We Create - Student Short Films Programme

BOZAR presents, in collaboration with the LuCi Moving Image collective, the "When We Create - Student Short Films Programme".
The LuCi Moving Image collective began as a film club at the LUCA campus in Schaerbeek. Over the past year, their goal has been to showcase the inspiring student works, they encounter during their time in school, as part of Brussels' cultural programming. Drawing inspiration from the ongoing When We See Us exhibition, the LuCi collective has curated a 2-night and matinée program featuring the works of 6 students from LUCA and KASK. While these six films are grounded in the shared bonds of the African diaspora, they emerge from the unique context of an art school. From this turbulent setting and their own fertile creative ground, these six artists craft deeply personal stories.
The two-night screenings will be accompanied by: one night featuring a conversation on finding a place for individual artistic practice within the context of art school, and the other night a Q&A session, both with the artists present. On April 9th, the debate with the filmmakers will be moderated by film director Louisiana Mees Fongang.

BOZAR présente, en collaboration avec le collectif LuCi Moving Image, « When We Create - Student Short Films Programme ».  
Le collectif LuCi Moving Image est s'est formé en tant que ciné-club sur le campus LUCA de Schaerbeek. Depuis un an, leur objectif a été de mettre en lumière les œuvres remarquables des étudiants qu’ils rencontrent durant leur parcours scolaire, en les intégrant dans la programmation culturelle bruxelloise. Inspiré par l’exposition en cours "When We See Us", le collectif LuCi a conçu un programme de deux soirées et une matinée mettant en avant les travaux de six étudiants de LUCA et KASK. Ancrés dans les liens profonds de la diaspora africaine, ce films tirent également leur force de l'expérience unique de la vie en école d'art.  De ce cadre tumultueux et de leur propre terrain créatif fertile, ces six artistes façonnent des récits profondément personnels.  
Les projections des deux soirées seront accompagnées : la première par une discussion sur la recherche d’une place pour une pratique artistique individuelle dans le contexte de l’école d’art, et la seconde par une séance de questions-réponses, en présence des artistes. Le 9 avril, la conversation est modérée par la réalisatrice Louisiana Mees Fongang.

In samenwerking met het LuCi Moving Image-collectief presenteert Bozar "When We Create - Student Short Films Programme". 
Het LuCi Moving Image-collectief begon als een filmclub op de LUCA-campus in Schaarbeek. Het afgelopen jaar hebben ze zich ingezet om het inspirerende werk van studenten dat ze tijdens hun studie tegenkwamen, een plek te geven binnen het culturele programma van Brussel. Geïnspireerd door de lopende tentoonstelling When We See Us heeft het collectief een programma samengesteld. Tijdens twee avonden en een matinee tonen ze de werken van zes studenten van LUCA en KASK tonen. Hoewel deze zes films wortels hebben in de gedeelde banden van de Afrikaanse diaspora, ontstonden ze uit de unieke context van een kunstacademie. Vanuit deze turbulente omgeving en hun eigen vruchtbare creatieve bodem creëren deze zes kunstenaars diep persoonlijke verhalen.
De vertoningen van twee avonden worden aangevuld met: één avond met een gesprek over het vinden van een plek voor individuele artistieke praktijk binnen de context van een kunstacademie, en een andere avond met een Q&A-sessie, beide in aanwezigheid van de kunstenaars. Op 9 april zal het debat met de filmmakers worden gemodereerd door filmregisseur Louisiana Mees Fongang.
