What is Refuge?
Refuge is the moment of inwardness and withdrawal, as we take time to reflect and process a major change in our reality. Turning away from the old, we begin to take in all that could be our new. Uncertain yet of its exact form or shape, we try on variations, feeling the glow of infinite potential, and the instability and uprootedness of this change.
Who is Kayan?
Founded by Tania Sultana Shoukair and Willow Sommer—writers and third-culture individuals based in Amsterdam—Kayan is a creative collective focused on exploring identity, belonging, and connection.
Kayan is an invitation to create space for other people's realities and experiences and to use that space to get closer to ourselves. In a world where the lines defining identity are either blurred or harsh, Kayan asks: What could our true essence be when we're offered the space to explore without control or performance?
What to expect:
Intimate space, candle light, delicious food, great company, vulnerability, community, unique performances, creativity.
