Ballet le plus joué au monde, Le Lac des Cygnes est de retour en 2021 pour une grande tournée en France et en Europe. A l'image des années précédentes, une nouvelle compagnie russe présentera cet intemporel chef-d'oeuvre classique.Ce ballet nous plonge dans la folle histoire d'amour du Prince Siegfried et de la Princesse Odette. Cette dernière est malheureusement prisonnière du célèbre sort du magicien Rothbart : elle se transforme en cygne le jour et redevient femme la nuit. Seule la promesse d'un amour éternel pourra la libérer de cet ensorcellement. Siegfried promet alors à Odette de l'épouser lors du bal donné en son honneur. Échapperont-ils aux fourberies de Rothbart et de sa fille Odile ? Le Prince parviendra-t-il à sauver sa promise ?Créé en 1875 par le compositeur russe Piotr Tchaïkovsky, c'est en 1895 avec la reprise du chorégraphe Marius Petipa que Le Lac des Cygnes deviendra le plus grand succès classique de tous les temps.Entre Pas de deux, duos romantiques et Danse des Petits Cygnes, les danseurs, accompagnés par l'orchestre, interpréteront tout en élégance cette oeuvre magistrale.Symbole du ballet romantique, Le Lac des Cygnes envoûte et continue d'enchanter des générations de spectateurs.

Bram De Looze: piano Jos Machtel: double bass Matthias De Waele: drums De jazzopleidingen in België zijn de laatste jaren van bijzonder hoog niveau. Talent máak je echter niet en dat bewijst pianist Bram De Looze, die al op piepjonge leeftijd gespot werd als één van die rasmuzikanten die de komende decennia de klank van de Belgische jazz mee zal bepalen. De 22-jarige De Looze woont sinds een jaar in New York, waar hij zich een weg baant tussen de internationale top. Dat belette hem niet in zijn thuisland naarstig op zoek te gaan naar manieren om zijn creativiteit te uiten. Parallel met het hippe LABtrio, waarin hij vooral eigen werk presenteert, neemt hij nu ook een frisse duik in het repertoire van grootheden als Charles Mingus en Thelonious Monk. Dat doet hij samen met een jonge collega en een éminence grise van de Belgische jazzscene. De uit Nederland afkomstige bassist Jos Machtel is sinds jaar en dag verbonden aan het internationaal gelauwerde Brussels Jazz Orchestra. In zijn rijke carrière toerde hij de wereld rond en woonde en werkte in steden als Kansas en Madrid. Hij speelde intussen samen met illustere grootheden als Lee Konitz, Woody Shaw, Deborah Brown en Philip Catherine. Drummer Matthias De Waele is wat ze noemen een laatbloeier. Alvorens muziek te studeren behaalde hij zijn diploma Criminologische Wetenschappen. Na zijn studies stortte hij zich op zijn muzikale carrière en ontpopte zich in een mum van tijd tot een gedegen jazzdrummer, in de stijl van zijn grote voorbeeld Philly Joe Jones. Naast dit trio kan je hem terug vinden bij beloftevolle jonge groepen als Trioxide en Phd.

During the Pentecost weekend the city of Ghent presents an annual baroque music festival with music of the three great masters of German Baroque: Bach, Telemann and Graupner. Every year, Florian Heyerick selects an instrument and brings together specialists from home and abroad to provide the public with this baroque pearls. This year it is all about the violin. Expect next to concerts with cantatas, orchestral works and many chamber also an Open Stage, a Telemarathon, lectures, city tours, a children's program, world and jazz music, and many known and unknown masterpieces performed by a pleiad of outstanding musicians on several attractive sites. In between the quince makes for an equally refreshing and surprising culinary discovery. Are you driving to Ghent? First check whether you may enter the city centre with your vehicle. Lauden: Classical concerts in St Bavo’s Abbey

The historic refectory of St Bavo’s Abbey is the backdrop of the Lauden concerts. At dusk, you can attend four concerts that are a twist on the liturgical tradition. The ensembles have their roots in Ghent and each bring their ode to the power of classical music. They combine passion, imagination and intimacy with musically sophisticated repertoires. De Schuur is a summer bar on the edge of the Bourgoyen. Here, you can enjoy a snack and a drink, as well as live concerts of Belgian artists on Saturdays and Sundays. Saturday: concert between 5 pm and 7 pm  Sunday: concert between 11:30 am and 1 pm
