Pascal Mohy and Ben Sluijs share a musical bond forged over many years. Together, they explore a rich repertoire, mixing their own compositions with classics by Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk and Jackie McLean. Ben Sluijs's sinuous lines guide this duo towards effervescent music. Pascal Mohy's delicate touch brings them back towards a more meditative ambiance, where the sax's harrowing notes almost seem suspended...
Their music is free and sincere, transporting the listener into a world where emotion and authenticity are the only things that count.

The trio Verbist/Baars/Lagatie consists of Milan Verbist (piano), Tristan Baars (double bass) and Arne Lagatie (drums). The three musicians met at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp in 2020, where all three were studying at the time. Tristan and Milan have since graduated. The repertoire consists of both own work written by all band members, as well as existing compositions. The emphasis of the band is on playing together, with a focus on groove, swing and free improvisation, but always with great attention to interplay, melody and space. They draw inspiration from Bill Evans, Kenny Wheeler, Keith Jarrett, Bobo Stenson, Herbie Hancock, Marcin Wasilewski, among others. The trio has already played concerts at Rataplan, GC Felix Sohie, Platform Bernaerts, during Jazz in Thals, at Jazzzolder... and Milan's graduation concert at arts center De Singel. They also recorded for VRT Klara, as part of Milan's selection for the programme 'De Twintigers'. The trio has already played around 40 concerts and has grown into a close-knit group.

Le trio Verbist/Baars/Lagatie se compose de Milan Verbist au piano, Tristan Baars à la contrebasse et Arne Lagatie à la batterie. Les trois musiciens se sont rencontrés en 2020 au Conservatoire royal d'Anvers, où ils étudiaient tous les trois à l'époque. Tristan et Milan ont depuis obtenu leur diplôme. Le répertoire se compose d'œuvres personnelles écrites par tous les membres du groupe, ainsi que de compositions existantes. Le groupe met l'accent sur le groove, le swing et l'improvisation libre mais en accordant toujours une grande attention à l'interaction, à la mélodie et à l'espace. Ils s'inspirent de Bill Evans, Kenny Wheeler, Keith Jarrett, Bobo Stenson, Herbie Hancock, Marcin Wasilewski entre autres. Le trio a déjà donné des concerts au Rataplan, GC Felix Sohie, Platform Bernaerts, Jazz in Thals, Jazzzolder… Ils ont également enregistré pour VRT Klara pour le programme "De Twintigers". Fort de ces nombreuses expériences de la scène, le groupe a développé une cohésion solide.

Door de jaren heen is er tussen Pascal Mohy en Ben Sluijs een muzikale verstandhouding gegroeid. Samen verkennen ze een rijk repertoire, waarin hun eigen composities afwisselen met klassiekers van Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk en Jackie McLean.
De bochtige muzikale lijnen die Ben Sluijs uitzet, laten de muziek van dit duo bruisen, terwijl het delicate toetsenwerk van Pascal Mohy hen onderdompelt in een veeleer meditatieve sfeer waarbij de hartverscheurende noten van de saxofoon in de lucht lijken te blijven hangen … Hun muziek, die vrijheid en eerlijkheid ademt, voert de toehoorder mee naar een universum waarin enkel de emotie en de authenticiteit van tel zijn.

De drie muzikanten leerden elkaar kennen aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen in 2020, waar ze destijds alle drie studeerden. Tristan en Milan zijn intussen afgestudeerd. Het repertoire bestaat uit zowel eigen werk van de hand van alle bandleden, als bestaande composities. De nadruk van de band ligt op het samenspel waarin er zowel aandacht is voor groove, swing en vrije improvisatie maar steeds met erg veel aandacht voor interplay, melodie en ruimte. Inspiratie halen ze bij onder andere Bill Evans, Kenny Wheeler, Keith Jarrett, Bobo Stenson, Herbie Hancock, Marcin Wasilewski... Het trio speelde reeds concerten in onder andere Rataplan, GC Felix Sohie, Platform Bernaerts, tijdens Jazz in Thals, te Jazzzolder... en Milan’s afstudeerconcert in kunstencentrum De Singel. Ze namen ook op voor VRT Klara, in het kader van Milan’s selectie bij het programma ‘De Twintigers’. Het trio speelde intussen reeds een 40-tal concerten en zijn uitgegroeid tot een hechte groep.
