The Asia-Europe Cultural Festival: Cultures Connect is a public arts festival
that celebrates the artistic diversity of Asia and Europe and promotes the
dialogue and exchange amongst artists from Asia and Europe. On Saturday, 26 and
Sunday, 27 November, audiences in Brussels will get to experience showcasing of
dance, film and music performances by artists from Cambodia, France and Spain.
Opening on 26 November with the premiere of the exquisite documentary film, The
Perfect Motion, by French filmmaker, Xavier de Lauzanne, the festival highlights
the richness of cultural diversity. The film tracks the creation of a production
by Cambodia’s royal dancers called “Metamorphosis,” under the direction of
Princess Buppha Devi, and the history of the Royal Ballet since 1906. HRH Prince
SISOWATH Tesso, Director of the Royal Ballet of Cambodia and Advisor for the
film, will grace the opening with his presence. On 27 November, renowned
festival directors, producers and artists will engage in a public panel titled,
'What future for Arts Festivals?'. For the closing, dynamic duo, Vignesh
Melwani, a singer-musician trained in Kathak theatre and dance, and Carla
González Ferrer, singer-musician from Spain will perform 'Improvisuals'
featuring free form improvisations with diverse musical genre influences.
