BANAD Festival - Former RVS Building

This functionalist building was built in 1936-1938 by the architect Jos Duijnstee to house the offices of the Rotterdamsche Verzekering Societeiten (RVS), a Dutch insurance company. The interior, in addition to its functional organisation and a staircase illuminated by superb stained glass windows, still features exceptional ceramic decorations by Jaap Gidding, an artist of the Amsterdam School. Protected since 1988 and restored in 1999 by SD Worx, the building is now occupied by the offices of the municipal administration of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. On the roof terrace, a splendid panorama awaits the visitors, offering views on the Rue Royale and the big towers of the Gare du Nord area

Cet immeuble de style fonctionnaliste fut construit en 1936-1938 par l'architecte Jos Duijnstee afin d'abriter les bureaux des "Rotterdamsche Verzekering Societeiten" (RVS), compagnie hollandaise d'assurances. L'intérieur, outre une organisation fonctionnelle et un escalier éclairé par de superbes vitraux, présente encore des décors en céramique exceptionnels de Jaap Gidding, artiste de l'Ecole d'Amsterdam. Classé depuis 1988 et restauré en 1999 par SD Worx, le bâtiment est aujourd'hui occupé par les bureaux de l'administration communale de Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. Un magnifique panorama sur la Rue Royale et les tours du quartier de la Gare du Nord est à découvrir sur le toit-terrasse.

Dit functionalistische gebouw werd in 1936-1938 gebouwd door de architect Jos Duijnstee om de kantoren van de Rotterdamsche Verzekering Societeiten (RVS) te huisvesten. In het interieur bevinden zich, behalve de functionele organisatie en een door prachtige glas-in-loodramen verlicht trappenhuis, nog uitzonderlijke keramische decoraties van Jaap Gidding, een kunstenaar van de Amsterdamse School. Het gebouw, dat sinds 1988 geklasseerd en in 1999 door SD Worx gerestaureerd werd, is nu in gebruik als kantoor van het gemeentebestuur van Sint-Joost-ten-Node. Op het dakterras wacht de bezoekers een prachtig panorama op de Koningsstraat en de torens van de Noordwijk.
