33 ans après les révoltes de Forest, nous vous proposons de nous réunir à
nouveau le temps d'une soirée, cette fois pour célébrer 'FEU2FORÊT. Un chant de
dignité ?", une publication collective qui vise à transmettre les histoires
racontées autour du feu de l'exposition FEU2FORÊT, qui a eu lieu à Forest en
novembre 2021.
La publication rassemble diverses images, dessins, vidéos, performances et
installations présentées lors de l'exposition et rassemble les réflexions
amicales, entre autres de Maxime Jean-Baptiste, Marielle Pelissero, Olivier
Marboeuf et Sofia Dati. Elle associe ces éléments visuels à des fils narratifs
et réflexifs, ainsi qu'au matériel d'archives collecté. En ravivant le feu
couvant oublié de 1991, la publication espère renforcer notre compréhension des
étincelles qui ont jailli de divers quartiers de Bruxelles, pour faire face aux
défis auxquels nous sommes malheureusement toujours confrontés aujourd'hui.

Impro. Un été Bruxellois, Jos de Gruyter, 1998, Video, 20’05’’
Dans le court-métrage de 1996 ‘Impro. Un été bruxellois’, un court-métrage
réalisé par un collectif de jeunes motivés de Vorst, personne n’est laissé de
côté. Qui ne veut pas devenir champion de boxe, cinéaste ou rappeur? Grâce à
l’enthousiasme de Big Faco, les rêves se réalisent les uns après les autres.
Malgré la situation critique dans laquelle se trouve ce monde chaotique, des
histoires de vie, des rêves et des désirs divers se croisent. Soutenu par les
5 piliers du hip-hop et de l’islam et avec l’artiste Jos De Gruyter, tout le
quartier a improvisé la représentation de ce qui n’était finalement qu’un
jour d’été bruxellois.
Un film de Ten Weyngaerde, en collaboration avec le Centre pour l’égalité des
chances et la lutte contre le racisme et Art 23 de la Fondation Roi Baudouin.
Ten Weyngaert est un des 22 centres communautaires de Bruxelles, une maison
ouverte à Forest où la rencontre, le développement et la créativité sont
centrales.

Forest, c’est la commune où il est né, où il a passé son enfance et son
adolescence, et c’est avec beaucoup de plaisir que Code Rouge est retourné à
ses racines, aidé par le collectif ArtiStory. Depuis un peu plus d’un an, il
est de retour et véritablement présent dans le quartier Saint-Antoine pour une
collaboration inédite et profonde avec le collectif formé autour du jeune
rappeur Lewart. À travers un clip video, Code Rouge nous lance ses mots molotov
qui font exploser une méditation sensible sur la coïncidence, peut-être pas si
fortuite, des révoltes de Forest et du « Dimanche noir » la même année, il y
a exactement 30 ans aujourd’hui.
QUI?
Fatima-Zohra Ait El Maâti est une des locomotive du collectif féministe
Imazi.Reine. Elle sensibilise le public par le biais des médias sociaux et
crée un espace sûr pour que les femmes et personnes non-binaires puissent se
retrouver. Elle a fait ses débuts entant que réal- isatrice avec le docu-
mentaire ‘Ma grand-mère n’est pas féministe’ qui traite de la ques- tion de
représentation des femmes musulmanes dans le discours féministe mainstream.

Joachim H. Ben Yakoub est un écrivain/ chercheur opérant à la frontière de
différentes institutions et écoles d’art entre Tunis et Bruxelles. Au
‘Kitchen’ un refuge situé au centre de la capitale, il s’engage actuellement,
à travers différents rythmes d’accueil et de partage, dans differentes praxis
et d’esthétiques fugitives.

Code Rouge est un rappeur et un cinéaste bruxellois. En 2008, il sort son
premier album, ‘Pour la couleur de nos yeux’, juste après le meurtre de Joe Van
Holsbeeck à la gare centrale. Depuis, des clips vidéo ont suivi, reliant
Bruxelles au monde (en collaboration avec Emel Mathlouthi (Tunisie), Maya Safar
(Syrie), Arona (Sénégal) Sonando En La Habana (Cuba)). Il développe
également une pratique cinématographique- tographique et réalise plusieurs
courts métrages tels que ‘Le Jour qui vient’, ‘Mes mots Molotov’ et ‘Les cris
restent’.

Ibrahim Khayar est psychiatre. Témoin actif dans différents mouvements
militants, ses recherches portent sur l’actualité de l'œuvre du psychiatre et
militant décolonial Frantz Fanon, et sur son utilisation dans les champs
sociaux et cliniques bruxellois.
Naïma I. Moldenhauer est une artiste interdisciplinaire belgo-algérienne et
chercheuse. Elle a des envies créatives qui se créent toujours dans l’ombre.
Elle travaille comme peintre/scénographe, décoratrice et architecte
d’intérieur pour divers lieux et projets, tels que Café Congo, MOM X Het Bos,
ZVA etc. Elle a travaillé comme chercheuse dans le domaine des arts autour des
archives de la solidarité inter- nationale. Actuellement, elle est également
active dans le domaine de la santé et étudie les pratiques thérapeutiques.
Née à Téhéran, Maryam Kolly est Belgo-Iranienne. Elle est licenciée en
Philosophie et Lettres (philosophie et arts de l’image) et docteure en
Sociologie. Enseignante-chercheuse depuis 2013 à l’Université Saint-Louis –
Bruxelles (USL-B) et à l’École de recherche Graphique, elle est responsable
académique du certificat "Islam dans le monde contemporain" de l'USL-B. Elle a
été intervenante sociale jeunesse de 2002 à 2013. Ses travaux portent sur les
jeunesses bruxelloises issues de l’immigration post coloniale, les masculinités
et féminités, l’épistémologie pragmatique.

Le Kitchen est un lieu toujours en devenir situé au centre de Bruxelles, une
sorte d'assemblée où différents artistes, curateurs et chercheurs se retrouvent,
partagent leur travail et cuisinent ensemble, où ils organisent des événements,
des conversations et des projections, mais aussi où ils font leur travail,
diffusent, ré-impriment et étudient.
Artistory est né dans le quartier St Antoine, théâtre en 1991 des révoltes
de Forest. Le collectif est née d’une forte volonté de certains habitants de
s’exprimer par le biais artistique. La pandémie covid a eu un impact très fort
dans ce petit quartier où tout le monde se connaît et où d’un coup les liens
sociaux ont été brutalement dégradés. Une pandémie qui a dans un premier
temps déprimé une grande partie de ses habitants et qui dans un second temps a
impulsé une vraie volonté de création chez certains. En un an Artistory a
créé 3 Studio d’enregistrements ainsi qu’un studio photo/ vidéo au sein de
son local chez Maxima réalisant au passage une dizaine de clips et déjà 3
courts métrages.

Lezarts Urbains est une association centrée sur les cultures urbaines et les
pratiques artistiques issues des milieux populaires. Active dans le champ
socio-artistique des cultures urbaines et, en particulier du hip hop, elle mène
avec de nombreux partenaires une action diversifiée d’accompagnement et de
soutien de projets artistiques, d'organisation d’évènements, de réflexion, ainsi
que de formation, et d’animation en ateliers.

33 jaar na de opstanden van Vorst komen we samen rond de collectieve publicatie
'FEU2FORÊT. A song of dignity? Dit boek wil de verhalen doorgeven die werden
verteld tijdens de tentoonstelling FEU2FORÊT die plaatsvond in november 2021.
De publicatie verweeft verschillende beelden, tekeningen, video's, performances
en installaties die tijdens de tentoonstelling te zien waren en bevat teksten
van onder andere Maxime Jean-Baptiste, Marielle Pelissero, Olivier Marboeuf en
Sofia Dati. Visuele elementen worden gecombineerd met narratieve en reflectieve
draden, samen met het verzamelde archiefmateriaal. Door het smeulende vuur van
1991 nieuw leven in te blazen, hoopt de publicatie meer inzicht te geven aan de
vonken die uit verschillende Brusselse wijken vlogen, en blijvende uitdagingen
te confronteren.

In de kortfilm 'Impro. Een Brusselse zomer', gemaakt door een groep jonge
enthousiastelingen uit Vorst, wordt niemand buitengesloten. Wie wil er geen
bokskampioen, filmmaker of beroemde rapper worden? Dankzij de drijvende kracht
van Big Faco komen dromen één voor één uit. Ondanks de kritieke situatie in onze
chaotische wereld kruisen verschillende levensverhalen, dromen en verlangens
elkaar. Gesteund door de vijf pijlers van hiphop en islam, en samen met
kunstenaar Jos De Gruyter, improviseerde de hele buurt een performance van wat
uiteindelijk een gewone Brusselse zomerdag was.
Een film van Ten Weyngaert, in samenwerking met het Centrum voor Gelijke Kansen
en Racismebestrijding en Art 23 van de Koning Boudewijnstichting. Ten Weyngaert
is een van de 22 gemeenschapscentra in Brussel, een open huis in Vorst waar
ontmoeting, ontwikkeling en creativiteit centraal staan.

Vorst is de stad waar Code Rouge hij werd geboren, waar hij zijn kinder- en
pubertijd doorbracht, en het is waar hij Code Rouge terugkeerde naar zijn roots
met de steun van het collectief ArtiStory. Sinds 2020 is hij terug en echt
aanwezig in de wijk Saint Antoine voor een nieuwe en diepgaande samenwerking met
het collectief rond de jonge rapper Lewart. Met een videoclip lanceert Code
Rouge zijn molotovwoorden, die ontploffen in een gevoelige meditatie over het
(misschien niet zo) toevallige samenvallen hetzelfde jaar van de opstanden in
Vorst en de Zwarte Zondag, vandaag precies 30 jaar geleden.
WIE?
Fatima-Zohra Ait El Maâti is de drijvende kracht achter het feministische
collectief Imazi.Reine. Ze zorgt voor bewustwording via sociale media en creëert
een veilige ruimte voor vrouwen en non-binaire personen om samen te komen. Haar
filmdebuut maakte ze met de documentaire 'My Grandmother is not a Feminist', die
ingaat op de representatie van moslimvrouwen in het mainstream feministische
discours.

Artistory is ontstaan in de wijk Saint Antoine, waar in 1991 de opstanden in
Vorst plaatsvonden, vanuit de behoefte van een aantal inwoners om zich door
middel van kunst uit te drukken. De pandemie had een zeer sterke impact op deze
kleine buurt waar iedereen elkaar kent en waar de sociale relaties plots brutaal
werden aangetast. Een pandemie die in eerste instantie een groot deel van de
bewoners in de put dreef, zette in tweede instantie aan tot een grote creatieve
drang. In een jaar tijd bouwde Artistory 3 opnamestudio's en een
foto/videostudio in het Maxima-gebouw, produceerde een dozijn videoclips en al 3
korte films.

Joachim H. Ben Yakoub is een schrijver/onderzoeker en docent die werkzaam is op
de grens van verschillende kunstinstellingen en scholen tussen Tunis, Tunesië,
en Brussel, België. Als onderdeel van 'The Kitchen', een safe house in het
centrum van de hoofdstad, experimenteert hij momenteel met verschillende ritmes
voor het hosten en delen van vluchtige esthetische praktijken.

Ibrahim Khayar is arts, momenteel gespecialiseerd in psychiatrie. Als getuige
van verschillende activistische bewegingen richt zijn onderzoek zich op het werk
van de psychiater en dekoloniale activist Frantz Fanon en de huidige toepassing
van zijn ideeën op sociaal en klinisch gebied in Brussel.
Maryam Kolly, geboren in Teheran, is Belgisch-Iraans. Ze heeft een diploma in
Filosofie en Literatuur (filosofie en beeldende kunst) en een PhD in Sociologie.
Sinds 2013 is ze leerkracht-onderzoekster aan de Université Saint-Louis -
Bruxelles (USL-B) en de École de recherche Graphique. Ze is hoofd van het
academisch certificaat "Islam in de hedendaagse wereld" aan de USL-B. Ze was
jeugdwerkster van 2002 tot 2013. Haar werk focust op postkoloniale
jongerenimmigratie in Brussel, masculiniteiten en femininiteiten, en
pragmatische epistemologie.

maar ook waar ze hun werk uitzenden, herdrukken en bestuderen.

33 years after the revolts of Forest, we gather to celebrate ‘FEU2FORÊT. A song
of dignity?’, a collective publication that aims at passing on the stories told
around the fire of the FEU2FORÊT exhibition that took place in Forest in
November 2021.
The publication weaves together various images, drawings, videos, performances,
and installations that were on show during the exhibition and gathers friendly
reflection by among others, Maxime Jean-Baptiste, Marielle Pelissero, Olivier
Marboeuf and Sofia Dati. It combines these visual elements with narrative and
reflective threads, along with the collected archival material.
By reviving the forgotten smoldering fire of 1991, the publication hopes to
strengthen our understanding of the sparks that flew off various Brussels
neighborhoods, to confront the challenges we unfortunately still face today.

In the 1996 short film ‘Impro. A Brussels Summer’ made by a group of young
enthusiasts from Forest, nobody is left out. Who doesn’t want to become a boxing
champion, a filmmaker, or a famous rapper? Thanks to the driving force of Big
Faco, dreams come true, one by one. Despite the critical situation in our
chaotic world, different life stories, dreams and desires intersect. Supported
by the five pillars of hip hop and Islam, and together with the artist Jos De
Gruyter, the whole neighborhood improvised a performance of what was ultimately
just a regular Brussels summer day.
A film by Ten Weyngaerde, in collaboration with the Centre for Equal Chances and
the Fight against Racism and Art 23 of the King Baudouin Foundation. Ten
Weyngaert is one of 22 community centres in Brussels, an open house in Forest
where meeting, development and creativity are central.

Forest is the town where he was born, where he spent his childhood and
adolescence, and it is where Code Rouge returned to his sources, supported by
the collective ArtiStory. Since 2020, he has been back and really present in the
Saint-Antoine neighborhood for a new and deep collaboration with the collective
formed around the young rapper Lewart. Through a video clip, Code Rouge launches
his molotov words exploding into a sensitive meditation on the coincidental,
perhaps not so fortuitous, occurrence of both the Forest revolts and the “Black”
Sunday during the same year, precisely 30 years ago today.
WHO?
Fatima-Zohra Ait El Maâti is the driving force behind the feminist collective
Imazi.Reine. She raises awareness through social media and creates a safe space
for women and non-binary people to come together. She made her film debut with
the documentary ‘My Grandmother is not a Feminist’ which addresses the issue of
representation of Muslim women in mainstream feminist discourse.

Joachim H. Ben Yakoub is a writer/researcher and lecturer operating on the
border of different art institutions and schools in between Tunis, Tunisia, and
Brussels, Belgium. As part of ‘The Kitchen’, a safe house in the center of the
capital, he is currently experimenting with different rhythms of hosting and
sharing fugitive aesthetic praxes.

Code Rouge is a rapper and filmmaker from Brussels. In 2008 he released his

Ibrahim Khayar is a psychiatrist. As an active witness in different militant
movements, his research focuses on the current work of the psychiatrist and
decolonial activist Frantz Fanon and its use in the social and clinical fields
of Brussels.
Bo rn in Teheran, Maryam Kolly is Belgo-Iranian. She has a degree in Philosophy
and Literature (philosophy and visual arts) and a doctorate in Sociology. A
teacher-researcher since 2013 at the Université Saint-Louis - Bruxelles (USL-B)
and the École de recherche Graphique, she is head of the "Islam in the
contemporary world" academic certificate at USL-B. She was a youth worker from

practices originating from working-class backgrounds. Active in the
socio-artistic field of urban cultures, particularly hip hop, it collaborates
with numerous partners to provide diverse support for artistic projects, event
organization, reflection, training and workshops.

Artistory is born in the Saint Antoine neighborhood-scene of the revolts in
Forest in 1991, from a strong will of some inhabitants to express themselves
through art. The covid pandemic had a very strong impact on this small
neighborhood where everyone knows each other and where suddenly the social
relations were brutally degraded. A pandemic which initially depressed a large
part of its inhabitants, impelled in a second time a true will of creation. In
one-year time, Artistory has constructed 3 recording studios as well as a
photo/video studio in its premises at Maxima, producing a dozen video clips and
already 3 short films.
