Concert organized in cooperation with Oorstof / SoundInMotionAs the finale of
their '2024 Spring EU/UK tour', American noise combo Wolf Eyes is once again
visiting AB. It's been 2017 (BRDCST festival) since Nate Young and John Olson
took the stage here. On this tour, they have expanded into a trio with Belgian
improv saxophonist/composer Hanne De Backer as their 3rd member.Since their +25
years of existence, Wolf Eyes has left an indelible mark on the avant-garde and
noise scene of recent decades. Not only the inexhaustible output, with besides
masses of 'official' releases on labels such as De Stijl, Sub Pop, Hospital
Productions and even Third Man records there have also been masses of obscure
CDRs, tapes and digital releases. The band has also always been looking for
interesting collaborations so they shared the stage and made recordings with
many big names from the improv and noise scene such as Anthony Braxton, Merzbow,
Sonic Youth, Dominick Fernow / Prurient, Black Dice, Double Leopards, Smegma,
John Wiese, Andrew W.K., Jaimie Branch, Richard Pinhas,...Besides her own, very
punishing work, we also know Hanne De Backer from her g a b b r o -project and
collaborations with Condor Gruppe, Ken Vandermark, Terrie Hessels, Paal
Nillsen-Love,...In recent years, Hanne has become a fixture on the flourishing
Belgian improv scene with her energetic and powerful sas playing.

sa tournée 2024 Spring EU/UK tour, le combo américain Wolf Eyes est à nouveau de
passage à l'AB. Nate Young et John Olson étaient déjà présents sur scène en 2017
(festival BRDCST). Pour cette tournée, ils se sont transformés en trio avec la
saxophoniste improvisatrice et compositrice belge Hanne De Backer comme
troisième membre.Depuis ses 25 ans d'existence, Wolf Eyes a laissé une marque
indélébile sur l'avant-garde et la scène bruitiste des dernières décennies. Il
ne s'agit pas seulement d'une production inépuisable, avec des masses de sorties
"officielles" sur des labels tels que De Stijl, Sub Pop, Hospital Productions et
même Third Man records, mais aussi des masses de CD obscurs, de cassettes et de
sorties numériques. Le groupe a toujours été à la recherche de collaborations
intéressantes et a donc partagé la scène et fait des enregistrements avec de
nombreux grands noms de la scène improvisée et bruitiste tels que Anthony
Braxton, Merzbow, Sonic Youth, Dominick Fernow / Prurient, Black Dice, Double
Leopards, Smegma, John Wiese, Andrew W.K., Jaimie Branch, Richard
Pinhas,...Outre son propre travail, très percutant, Hanne De Backer est connue
pour son projet g a b b r o et ses collaborations avec Condor Gruppe, Ken
Vandermark, Terrie Hessels, Paal Nillsen-Love,... Ces dernières années, Hanne
est devenue une figure incontournable de la florissante scène belge
d'improvisation grâce à son jeu de sas énergique et puissant.

Spring EU/UK tour’ doet het Amerikaanse noise combo Wolf Eyes nog eens AB aan.
Het is alweer van 2017 (BRDCST festival) geleden dat Nate Young en John Olson
hier op het podium stonden. Op deze tour zijn ze uitgebreid tot een trio met als
3e lid de Belgische improv saxofoniste/componiste Hanne De Backer. Sinds hun +25
jarig bestaan heeft Wolf Eyes een onuitwisbare stempel gedrukt op de avant—garde
en noise scene van de laatste decennia. Niet enkel de onuitputtelijke output,
met naast massa’s ‘officiel’ releases op labels als De Stijl, Sub Pop, Hospital
Productions en zelf Third Man records zijn er ook massa’s obscure cdr’s, tapes
en digitale releases geweest. De band is ook steeds op zoek geweest naar
interessante samenwerkingen zo deelden ze het podium en maakten opnames met veel
grote namen uit de improv en noise scene zoals Anthony Braxton, Merzbow, Sonic
Youth, Dominick Fernow / Prurient, Black Dice, Double Leopards, Smegma, John
Wiese, Andrew W.K., Jaimie Branch, Richard Pinhas,…Hanne De Backer kennen we
naast haar eigen, zeer straffe werk ook o.a. van haar g a b b r o -project en
samenwerkingen met Condor Gruppe, Ken Vandermark, Terrie Hessels, Paal
Nillsen-Love,…De laatste jaren is Hanne met haar energieke en krachtige sas-spel
uitgegroeid tot een vaste waarde in de bloeiende Belgische improv-scene.
