🌍 🪘 🎤 🎶 🕺🏿 💃🏾 🎸Suara is “voice” in Indonesian, and Mayombe is a lush forest region stretching across Cabinda (Angola), Congo-Brazzaville, and Congo-Kinshasa. The name reflects the roots of vocal duo Abel Massiala from Cabinda and Cees de Jong from the Moluccas/Netherlands, who first met in the multilingual choir Amuzi in Bruges. With layered guitar grooves and vocals in a mix of languages, they build bridges between cultures, people and emotions. Much of the repertoire is written by Abel, offering a sharp take on everyday life in Cabinda, while Cees brings in traditional Moluccan songs and soulful instrumentals.
