Queimada Bal Folk

The night kicks off with a dance workshop by our partner Frisse Folk, followed by lively folk dances from the bands Laouen (BE/NL) and Aerokorda (BE).

LAOUEN
Bert Leemans (chromatic accordion) and Ies Muller (wooden flutes, bombard) have crossed paths many times through various projects. It was only a matter of time before they formed their duo, “Laouen.” In this project, they seamlessly blend traditional melodies from Brittany, France, and Ireland with their own compositions, creating a subtle and dynamic musical journey that transports you to another world—one that will have you dancing in no time.

AEROKORDA
Like three young Vikings, the musicians of Aerokorda stir up deep emotions in every heart. Pavel Souvandjiev (violin), Adriaan Van Wonterghem (guitar), and Davy Cautaerts (Irish whistle and octave mandolin) share a passion for both Slavic and Celtic traditional music, which is clearly reflected in the band’s original compositions. Pavel, with his Bulgarian roots and classical training, has toured Europe with his duo “Les Botinnes Artistiques.” Adriaan, a member of the Flemish group Boreas, also has a classical background, adding a romantic touch to Aerokorda’s sound. Davy, a Celtic music specialist for years, hosts weekly sessions in an Irish pub in Ghent and plays the whistle for the folk-metal band Ithilien. Together, they create a rich, vibrant, and captivating musical experience that’s sure to get everyone on the dance floor.

La soirée s’ouvrira avec une initiation à la danse par notre partenaire Frisse Folk, suivis des bals folk des groupes Laouen (BE/NL) et Aerokorda (BE).

LAOUEN
Les chemins de Bert Leemans (accordéon chromatique) et Ies Muller (flûtes en bois, bombarde) se sont souvent croisés à l’occasion de multiples projets. Il était dès lors grand temps pour eux de former ce duo qu’ils ont baptisé “Laouen”. Au sein de ce projet, ils mélangent harmonieusement mélodies traditionnelles bretonnes, françaises et irlandaises avec leurs propres compositions pour aboutir à un ensemble musical subtil et dynamique. Leur musique vous transportera dans un autre monde, irrésistible et invitant immédiatement à la danse.

AEROKORDA
Tels trois jeunes Vikings, les musiciens d’Aerokorda font naître beaucoup d’émotions dans le cœur de chacun. Pavel Souvandjiev (violon), Adriaan Van Wonterghem (guitare) et Davy Cautaerts (Irish Whistle et mandoline octave) ont développé une passion commune pour la musique traditionnelle slave et celtique. Ces deux influences se ressentent nettement dans les propres compositions du groupe. Ayant des racines bulgares, Pavel a une formation classique et a tourné dans toute l’Europe avec son duo « Les Botinnes Artistiques ». Adriaan, connu au sein du groupe flamand Boreas, a également une formation classique et ajoute une note romantique à la musique d’Aérokorda. Davy est spécialisé dans la musique celtique depuis de nombreuses années, anime des sessions hebdomadaires dans un pub irlandais à Gand et joue également du sifflet au sein du groupe de folk metal Ithilien. Tous les ingrédients sont réunis pour un bal aussi varié qu’entraînant et éblouissant.

Deze eerste Queimada van het seizoen vergast ons met Laouen op een energieke ontmoeting tussen chromatisch accordeon en houten dwarsfluiten en bombarde en stevige snaren uit het noorden van het land met Aerokorda. Maar we openen de avond met een dansinitiatie in samenwerking met Frisse Folk.
De wegen van Bert Leemans (chromatische accordeon) en Ies Muller (houten dwarsfluiten, bombarde) kruisten elkaar al vaak in allerlei projecten en het werd de hoogste tijd voor een duo. Ze doopten het kind Laouen en laten in een fijne dynamische melange Bretoense, Franse en Ierse melodieën, traditioneel en eigen werk, naadloos in elkaar samenvloeien. De muziek van dit duo brengt je naar een andere wereld en nodigt meteen uit tot dansen.

Als drie jonge vikings beroeren de muzikanten van Aerokorda met veel passie ieders gevoelige snaar. Pavel Souvandjiev (viool), Adriaan Van Wonterghem (Gitaar) en Davy Cautaerts (Ierse Whistle en octaafmandoline) ontdekten hun gedeelde voorliefde voor traditionele Slavische en Keltische muziek. Beide invloeden komen dan ook duidelijk naar voren in de eigen composities van de band. Pavel heeft Bulgaarse roots, is klasssiek geschoold en toerde over heel Europa met zijn duo ‘Les Botinnes Artistiques’. Adriaan kennen we dan weer van de Vlaamse groep Boreas. Tevens klassiek geschoold zorgt hij voor de romantische noot in Aérokorda’s muziek. Davy specialiseerde zich vele jaren in Keltische muziek, leidt wekelijkse Ierse sessies in een Irish pub in Gent en speelt tevens whistle in de folkmetalband Ithilien. Ingrediënten genoeg voor een gevarieerd en spetterend bal dus.
