Sloper

Sloper was established in 2018 by two renowned drummers: Mario Goossens from Triggerfinger and Cesar Zuiderwijk from Golden Earring. Zuiderwijk joined Golden Earring in 1970 and toured the world after scoring the global hit Radar Love. Fellow drummer Mario Goossens is a founding member of Triggerfinger, the robust rock trio that has been touring clubs and rock festivals all over continental Europe for more than 20 years now.Even before the two men met, there was already an enormous amount of mutual respect. After they ran into each other, they decided to finally ‘do something together’. They recruited British singer Peter Shoulder (Winterville, The Union and Silverthorne) and guitarist Fabio Canini (BE) to form the musical demolition crew Sloper. Zuiderwijk likes to say of himself: “I’m a drummer so I can’t play out of tune. I love that freedom when I play with Sloper.”At the end of 2023, the band welcomed two new members to replace Peter: Jan Bas on vocals/guitar and Bas Soetens on bass. Together with Mario, Cesar and Fabio, they form the new Sloper. The music for brand new album Changing Colors is more produced than the straightforward rock of Sloper’s debut. Expect a wider variety of influences from the ‘80s, ‘90s and even Northern soul.

Zuiderwijk rejoint Golden Earring en 1970 et fait le tour du monde après la sortie du tube planétaire “Radar Love”. Quant à Goossens, il est l’un des fondateurs de Triggerfinger, un trio rock rentre-dedans qui égrène les salles et festivals d’Europe depuis plus de 20 ans.Lorsque Mario et Cesar – déjà animés par un profond respect mutuel – se rencontrent, ils décident d’unir leurs forces musicales. Nadat ze elkaar tegen het lijf liepen, besloten ze eindelijk ‘iets samen te doen’. Ze rekruteerden de Britse zanger Peter Shoulder (Winterville, The Union en Silverthorne) en gitarist Fabio Canini (BE) om samen de muzikale sloopploeg Sloper te vormen. Zuiderwijk zegt graag over zichzelf: “I’m a drummer so I can’t play out of tune. Ik hou van die vrijheid als ik met Sloper speel.”Eind 2023 verwelkomde de band twee nieuwe leden ter vervanging van Peter: Jan Bas op zang/gitaar en Bas Soetens op bas. Samen met Mario, Cesar en Fabio vormen ze het nieuwe Sloper. De muziek voor het kersverse album Changing Colors is meer geproduceerd dan de rechttoe rechtaan rock van Sloper’s debuut. Verwacht een bredere variëteit aan invloeden uit de jaren 80, 90 en zelfs Northern soul.
