Synopsis:

Towards the end of his life, Dieter Engel, Germany's legendary brothel owner, reveals his secret art collection. Orphaned in World War II, he grew up in poverty. During Germany's turbulent reconstruction, Engel revolutionized the sex industry by creating a brothel that challenged societal norms and provided insight into the hitherto hidden world of female sexuality. Uniquely, he treated his female workers with respect and, for the first time in history, provided them with social insurance and pension rights. Before his death, he fulfilled his dream of establishing a museum to showcase the remarkable erotic art pieces he had collected over nearly fifty years.

Peter Woditsch born in Stuttgart (DE) is a German-Belgian filmdirector who studied directing at the Brussels INSAS with postgraduates at Munich, Ebeltoft & FAMU/Prague Filmschools. He started directing award winning feature films ; he also works as an editor.

Synopsis :

Vers la fin de sa vie, Dieter Engel, légendaire propriétaire de maisons closes en Allemagne, dévoile sa collection secrète d'art. Orphelin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il grandit dans la pauvreté. Pendant la tumultueuse reconstruction de l'Allemagne, Engel révolutionne l'industrie du sexe en créant un établissement qui défie les normes sociales et offre un aperçu inédit du monde jusque-là caché de la sexualité féminine. Fait unique, il traite ses travailleuses avec respect et leur accorde, pour la première fois dans l'histoire, une assurance sociale ainsi que des droits à la retraite. Avant sa mort, il réalise son rêve en fondant un musée destiné à exposer les remarquables œuvres d'art érotique qu'il a collectionnées pendant près de cinquante ans.

Biographie du réalisateur :

Peter Woditsch, né à Stuttgart (DE), est un réalisateur germano-belge qui a étudié la mise en scène à l’INSAS de Bruxelles, avec des formations post-universitaires à Munich, Ebeltoft et à la FAMU de Prague. Il a commencé par réaliser des longs métrages primés et travaille également en tant que monteur.

Synopsis :

Tegen het einde van zijn leven onthult Dieter Engel, de legendarische Duitse bordeelhouder, zijn geheime kunstcollectie. Als wees van de Tweede Wereldoorlog groeide hij op in armoede. Tijdens de turbulente wederopbouw van Duitsland veroorzaakte hij een omwenteling in de seksindustrie: hij richtte een bordeel op dat maatschappelijke normen uitdaagde en inzicht verschafte in de tot dan toe verborgen wereld van vrouwelijke seksualiteit. Wat Engel uniek maakte, was zijn respectvolle behandeling van zijn werkneemsters; en hij was de eerste in de geschiedenis die hen sociale verzekeringen en pensioenrechten bood. Voor zijn dood vervulde hij zijn ultieme droom: de oprichting van een museum dat de opmerkelijke erotische kunstwerken toonde die hij bijna vijftig jaar lang had verzameld.
