De Mantoue à Venise, à l’aube du XVIIe siècle, un compositeur révolutionne la musique en transformant l’essence même du chant. Son nom : Claudio Monteverdi. Ce moment charnière annonce la transition de la musique de la Renaissance vers la musique baroque et les prémices d’un nouvel art : l’opéra. Plongez dans l’ambiance de cette période fascinante de l’histoire de la musique pendant toute une journée aux Ateliers de la Monnaie.

Un Concertino consacré aux œuvres de Francesco Cavalli, disciple de Monteverdi, et à celles de deux de ses élèves, Barbara Strozzi et Antonia Bembo.
Une master classe ouverte, également dédiée au chant baroque, animée par les membres de la MM Academy sous la direction du chef d’orchestre expert de ce répertoire, Leonardo García-Alarcón.
Un Inside the Music au cours duquel ce dernier explorera la partition de I Grotteschi, notre nouveau diptyque inspiré des opéras de Claudio Monteverdi.


Vous bénéficierez d’un lunch et d’un café/thé à la Monnaie, suivi d’un verre au bar pour clôturer cette journée intensément musicale.

Van de stadstaat Mantua tot de republiek van Venetië gonsde begin 17de eeuw één naam luider dan alle andere aan het muzikale firmament: die van Claudio Monteverdi. Op dit scharniermoment in de geschiedenis luidde zijn werk niet alleen de overgang in van de renaissancemuziek naar de barok, maar ook de volwassenwording van een toen nieuwe kunstvorm: de opera. In de marge van de Monteverdi-diptiek I Grotteschi nodigen we je uit om je een dag lang onder te dompelen in de sfeer, de muziek en het métier van dit fascinerende tijdsgewricht.

Op het programma:


Een Concertino gewijd aan de werken van Monteverdi’s leerling Francesco Cavalli en twee van diens pupillen, Barbara Strozzi en Antonia Bembo.
Een open masterclass barokzang, met leden van de MM Academy onder leiding van dirigent Leonardo García-Alarcón.
De muzikale lezing Inside the Music, waarin deze wereldautoriteit op het vlak van oude muziek en barok de partituur van I Grotteschi in detail zal verkennen.


Niet alleen je gehoorzin wordt de hele dag door verwend. De Munt voorziet een lunch, in de namiddag een koffie of thee met versnapering, en afsluitend een gratis (alcoholvrije) drink.

At this pivotal moment in history, his work heralded not only the transition from Renaissance music to the baroque, but also the coming of age of a then-new art form: opera. An open masterclass in baroque singing with students of the MM Academy led by conductor Leonardo García-Alarcón.
The musical lecture Inside the Music, during which this world authority on early and baroque music will explore the score of I Grotteschi in detail.
