Damiano Davide - Piano & Composer
Cecilia Costanzo – Cello
MUSICA DAL SILENZIO (“Music from Silence” in Italian) explores the depth and beauty of sound generated from nothing, where each note is carefully chosen in a minimalist journey that always begins and ends in silence. The intimacy of the dialogue between piano and cello, sometimes whispered and sometimes in conflict, reminds us of how precious “Silence” is in the contemporary era.
Musica dal Silenzio was born in 2024 between Naples and Catania, combining the compositional work of Damiano Davide, which includes pieces for piano and cello (NOSTOS for solo cello, published in 2023 by DaVinci Publishing), with the intense chamber music activity of Cecilia Costanzo. The project debuted at the “INTERSEZIONI FESTIVAL,” a contemporary music event directed by Giovanni Sollima, at the Teatro Machiavelli in Catania in March 2024. The live recording of that concert is compiled into an album, “Musica dal Silenzio - Live in Sicilia,” released in October 2024. The concert features music by Damiano Davide, Arvo Pärt, Olivier Messiaen, and Giovanni Sollima.
Damiano Davide is a composer, pianist, and conductor trained at the Conservatory of Naples, recognized for his work in opera and, as a composer, in minimalist music. Notable works as a composer include albums with violinist Lino Cannavacciuolo and his solo album "Mirror," released during the 2020 lockdown. In 2024, he launched the project “Musica dal Silenzio” with cellist Cecilia Costanzo. An album of original compositions for solo piano is also forthcoming.
Cecilia Costanzo, born in 1998 to opera singer parents, she showed musical talent early, studying piano and later cello. After earning a Master’s degree at the Vincenzo Bellini Musical Institute in Catania, she enhanced her training through masterclasses with prominent cellists. She performs with various orchestras and prestigious ensembles, collaborating with renowned artists in major venues, and is actively involved in chamber music.
