National Basilica Church of the Sacred Heart
Originally conceived in the early twentieth century by King Leopold II, the construction of the church we see today did not begin until 1926, to the design of architect Albert Van huffel. Work on the building progressed slowly, prompting the ageing Van huffel to go into partnership, five years before his death in 1935, with the younger Paul Rome. The building was completed under Rome's supervision in 1970. Today it is the fifth-largest Roman Catholic church in the world and boasts an interior as unusual as its monumental exterior, a veritable manifesto for the religious Art Deco style. The guided tours will include access to the viewing platform with its panoramic views of Brussels.

Déjà envisagée au début du 20e siècle par Léopold II, la construction de la Basilique telle que nous la connaissons aujourd'hui fut entreprise en 1926 par l'architecte Albert Van huffel. Les travaux progressant lentement, il s'associa en 1930 avec Paul Rome qui acheva la construction en 1970. Ce bâtiment, aux volumes remarquables, cinquième église du monde par sa taille, constitue un véritable manifeste de l'Art Déco religieux. La visite inclura l'accès au panorama de la Basilique offrant une vue unique sur Bruxelles.

Nationale Basiliek van het Heilig Hart/Basilique Nationale du Sacré-Cœur
Dit bouwwerk stond al aan het begin van de 20ste eeuw op de planning van Leopold II. De bouw van de basiliek zoals wij die nu kennen, werd echter pas in 1926 ondernomen door architect Albert Van huffel. Omdat de werken niet echt opschoten, ging hij in 1930 in zee met Paul Rome, die het bouwwerk voltooide in 1970. Dit gebouw met opmerkelijke volumes, de op vier na grootste kerk ter wereld, is een heus manifest van de religieuze art deco. Het bezoek omvat een toegang tot het panorama van de Basiliek, voor een uniek uitzicht over Brussel.
