Raul Kohli
Raul Kohli (star of hit BBC podcast - Comic Sanskrit) has fast become one of the
most captivating acts on the circuit. As one of the few Asians to have grown up
in the far north of England (Newcastle Upon Tyne, he’s been blessed with a
Worldview that upends ethnicity, culture and class. Combining ‘superb political
comedy’ (The Scotsman) with surreal storytelling, Raul Kohli is a recognized
name in Comedy. His Edinburgh Fringe debut show Newcastle Brown Male was one of
BBC Radio 4, The Huffington Post & the Skinny’s Top Picks of the Fringe 2016,
while his most recent: All My Heroes Are Dead, in Jail or Touched Up Your Nan
was nominated for Best Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival.

À l’occasion de la sortie du nouveau volume de son anthologie sonore des
phénomènes occultes, l'auteur et réalisateur radio Philippe Baudouin vient
présenter son projet Spectra Ex Machina (Sub Rosa), lors d'une soirée
exceptionnelle.
Le second volume de cette anthologie sonore explore les liens entre musique et
médiumnité, art vocal et sorcellerie : Aleister Crowley, Uri Geller, Rosemary
Brown ou bien encore Elvis Presley font ainsi résonner leur voix de l'au-delà.
Au programme de cette soirée : séance d'écoute de quelques extraits du disque et
discussion avec Philippe Baudouin, Stéphanie Peel et Christian Chelman sur
l'histoire du spiritisme et ses croisements inattendus avec la question
musicale.
À cette occasion, les deux premiers volumes de Spectra Ex Machina seront
proposés à la vente.
Philippe Baudouin est réalisateur radio et maître de conférences associé à
l’Université Paris-Saclay. Il est l’auteur de plusieurs ouvrages et articles sur
l’histoire de l’occultisme dont Apparitions : Les Archives de la France hantée
(Hoëbeke, 2021) et Surnaturelles : une histoire visuelle des femmes médiums
(Pyramyd, 2021). Depuis 2019, il poursuit en collaboration avec le label Sub
Rosa le projet Spectra Ex Machina, consacré aux archives sonores du paranormal.
Stéphanie Peel est chercheuse indépendante et doctorante à l’Université libre de
Bruxelles. Son compte Instagram « Les Occultées » est consacré à l’histoire des
femmes médiums.
Christian Chelman est illusionniste et collectionneur. Il est également le
fondateur et l’actuel conservateur du Surnatéum, Muséum d’Histoire Surnaturelle
de Bruxelles.
A l’occasion de la Brussels Pride Week, le Design Museum Brussels est heureux
d’inviter Unique en son genre. Un·e artiste drag, un livre, et vous, enfants et
familles, qui que vous soyez, venez écoutez des histoires merveilleuses et
laissez libre cours à l’imagination. Ensemble, entouré·e·s de la créativité des
pièces présentées dans nos expositions, interrogeons-nous sur les questions du
genre à travers la littérature, la poésie, les mots et les couleurs. Comment
aborder ces sujets complexes avec des paillettes dans les yeux ? Découvrons-le
ensemble.
Unique en son genre, ce sont des lectures de contes présentés par des artistes
drag et des artistes de cabaret dans différents lieux culturels. Ce projet est
une expérience ouverte à tou·te·s pour laisser libre cours à l’imagination, à la
curiosité, célébrer la différence et évoquer les questions de genres.

invite pendant une heure de lecture à faire un voyage dont l’essentiel est
d’aller à la rencontre de notre humanité.
Ces autofictions ont pour objectif de nous interroger sur les difficultés, mais
aussi les plaisirs d’être en relation à l’autre. Chaque histoire dégage des
thématiques à partir desquelles, après lectures, nous aurons l’occasion

gay texts he has written. The main aim is to explore our own humanity.
The aim of these self-fictions is to ask us questions about the difficulties,
but also the pleasures, of being in a relationship with another person. Each
story brings out themes which, after reading, we will have the opportunity to
freely exchange our points of view, without judgement. We'll be talking about
love above all, but also homophobia, freedom, suffering, the influence of
virtual relationships, art, and so on.
As we'll be tackling sensitive and even intimate subjects, the event is aimed
exclusively at an adult and queer audience.
