When you mix the British jazz scene with the deep sounds of house music, you get what berlioz (or Ted Jasper) conjures up in his sound boxes: a dreamy new electronic palette with laid-back grooves and danceable rhythms. Berlioz’s music has been described as “Matisse making house”, generating millions of streams even before he released his debut album “Open this wall”. This Matissian inspiration can be seen in the animations and visuals with which he fills his TikTok and Instagram accounts, which perfectly complement his vibes and the effervescence of the city. While the record is rooted in contemporary jazz trends, it also contains Afro-tinged rhythms and the euphoria of house. Influences and sounds that the young Briton blends effortlessly into a musical universe that can as easily get the legs dancing as launch a languorous weekend morning.
Berlioz already played to a full house at Le Botanique earlier this year, and now returns to Belgium. Tickets can be ordered from Friday November 1 at 11am.
