Synopsis:

L'AMAZONE is an intimate portrait of a mother and daughter in a family where women have been affected by breast cancer for four generations. The film tells a story of love and resilience. Where sharing, speaking out, and reconciliation stand in opposition to isolation, silence, and separation.

Director's biography:

ÉMILIE MARÉCHAL is an actress and director, graduated in dramatic arts from INSAS. She has worked in theatre with renowned directors such as Thibaut Wenger, Joël Pommerat, and Roméo Castellucci, and has appeared in films directed by Camille Meynard and Olivier Smolders. She has also written and directed works showcased in prestigious cultural institutions. In 2015, she was nominated for the Magritte Award for Best Female Newcomer for her role in "Tokyo Anyway", and in 2016, she was nominated for the Theatre Critics’ Award for her monologue Plainte contre X.

Camille Meynard is a graduate of INSAS in film directing. Passionate about acting, he developed a concept for acting workshops, bringing together former students from the school, which inspired the creation of his first feature film, "Tokyo Anyway". The film was critically acclaimed and received three nominations at the 2015 Magritte Awards. He is also the founder of GRENADE, a production company specializing in guerrilla filmmaking that captures reality up close, with films shown in over a hundred countries. In parallel, Camille is actively involved in creating video content for renowned theaters such as Théâtre Varia and Théâtre National.

Biographie du réalisateur :

ÉMILIE MARÉCHAL est comédienne et metteuse en scène, diplômée de l’INSAS en interprétation dramatique. Elle a travaillé au théâtre sous la direction de metteurs en scène tels que Thibaut Wenger, Joël Pommerat et Roméo Castellucci, et a joué au cinéma dans des films réalisés par Camille Meynard et Olivier Smolders. Elle a également écrit et mis en scène des œuvres présentées dans des institutions culturelles de renom. En 2015, elle a été nominée pour le Magritte du Meilleur Espoir Féminin pour son rôle dans « Tokyo Anyway », et en 2016, aux Prix de la Critique Théâtre pour le monologue « Plainte contre X ».

CAMILLE MEYNARD est diplômé de l’INSAS en réalisation. Passionné par le jeu d’acteur, il a développé un concept de laboratoires de jeu, réunissant d’anciens élèves de l’école, qui a inspiré la création de son premier long-métrage, « Tokyo Anyway », salué par la critique, obtenant trois nominations aux Magritte en 2015. Fondateur de GRENADE, une société de production spécialisée dans les films guérilla, capturant la réalité au plus près, projetés dans plus de cent pays. En parallèle, Camille s’engage activement dans la création vidéo pour des théâtres renommés tels que le Théâtre Varia et le Théâtre National.
