THE PRETENDERS + THE PICTUREBOOKS

Description

PRETENDERS

Let’s rock! The mythical band from the eighties triumphed as recently as 2023 with two sold-out shows at De Roma, and released a strong twelfth album with “Relentless,” carried by the single “Let The Sun Come In. The Pretenders are coming to Belgium again in 2024, this time for a concert on Saturday, March 30, at the Liège concert hall OM!

You won’t find them more rock’n’roll than Chrissie Hynde anytime soon. Once a clothing saleswoman and still writing for the New Musical Express (NME), she moved to Paris in the 1970s, played in several punk rock bands, became a backing vocalist for Chris Spedding and closely followed The Clash’s tours until she began to devote herself to writing her own songs. In 1979, she launched the band of the same name with the debut album “The Pretenders. That immediately became an icon and the model for the perfect rock band, with a solid dose of charisma, strong character and a nose for irresistible hits. “Brass In Pocket” is the first in a long line of striking songs: “Kid,” “Back on the Chain Gang,” “Don’t Get Me Wrong” and, of course, “I’ll Stand By You” and “2000 Miles” that became anthems of the ’80s. The Pretenders strung together international tours, sold millions of records and left a lasting impression on rock history. With our country, the group has a special bond. Whether at the festivals (Rock Werchter, TW Classic, Werchter Boutique) or at an indoor concert: the Belgian fans are always on hand. Now, for the first time, with new work and their greatest hits, The Pretenders are coming to Liège. Appointment on March 30 in OM!
