A unique museum adventure with TADA pupils

The Brussels City Museum - Maison du Roi/Broodhuis is working with a class of 24 ToekomstATELIERdelAvenir (TADA) pupils in their first year of secondary school to explore the story of their city and of their own background. Together, they are reflecting on an essential question: which What objects tell of their personal story and their connection with Brussels?

Inspired by our collection of objects relating to immigration, this initiative focuses on the stories behind each object. During the project, the pupils are discovering the work of different people at the museum, such as display designers, curators and communications officers. They are learning to value heritage through their own experiences.

The project will end on a high note with a private viewing of their mini-exhibition on 15 February 2025. Discover the objects chosen by the pupils and admire the exhibition they designed. This exhibition invites you to explore different facets of our collective history through the eyes of Brussels’ young peopleyoungsters.

Le Musée de la Ville de Bruxelles - Maison du Roi collabore avec une classe de 24 élèves de ToekomstATELIERdelAvenir (TADA) en première année de secondaire pour explorer l’histoire de leur ville et de leurs origines. Ensemble, ils réfléchissent à une question essentielle : Quels objets racontent leur histoire personnelle et leur lien avec Bruxelles ?

Inspirée par notre collecte d’objets liés à l’immigration, cette initiative met l’accent sur les récits qui se cachent derrière chaque objet. Pendant ce projet, les élèves découvrent les métiers du musée tels que scénographe, conservateur ou chargé de communication. Ils apprennent à valoriser le patrimoine à travers leurs propres expériences.

Le projet se clôture en beauté avec un vernissage de leur mini-expo, le 15 février 2025. Découvrez les objets choisis par les élèves et admirez l’exposition qu’ils ont conçue. Cette exposition vous invite à explorer les facettes de notre histoire collective sous le prisme de la jeunesse bruxelloise.

Het Museum van de Stad Brussel - Broodhuis werkt samen met een klas van 24 leerlingen van ToekomstATELIERdelAvenir (TADA) uit het eerste middelbaar, die de geschiedenis van hun stad, maar ook hun eigen herkomst verkennen. Samen denken ze na over een essentiële vraag: welke voorwerpen vertellen hun persoonlijke verhaal en hun band met Brussel?

Het initiatief is geïnspireerd op onze inzameling van voorwerpen gelinkt aan migratie en het legt de nadruk op de verhalen die achter elk object schuilgaan. Tijdens het project maken de leerlingen ook kennis met museumberoepen zoals scenograaf, conservator en communicatiemedewerker. Op basis van hun eigen ervaringen leren ze bovendien om erfgoed te waarderen.

Het project eindigt met de vernissage van hun eigen mini-expo op 15 februari 2025. Ontdek welke voorwerpen de leerlingen hebben gekozen op de tentoonstelling die ze zelf hebben ontworpen, en bekijk de vele facetten van onze collectieve geschiedenis door de bril van de Brusselse jeugd.
