Juggling, acrobatics, dance, BMX riding and club throwing come together in a show bursting with volcanic energy. Ever since they met at the École de Cirque de Bruxelles, Sara Desprez and Angelos Matsakis have been creating a circus that is at once festive and liberating, based on the tension between control and release. Although they may possess virtuoso skills, their search is for transcendence rather than technical brilliance. Their approach, rigorous yet profoundly free, is the source of a unique circus language. 

In Foutoir céleste, they use this particular style to create a grand celebration inspired by the earliest rituals of the First Peoples of America. The Coyote God they fell in love with is a wild figure who has come to disturb humans and reveal their vulnerability and rid them of their tendency to believe that they are all-powerful. Let’s put an end once and for all to humanity’s longing for invincibility.

Voici venir une grande fête circassienne en hommage au Dieu Coyote, figure totémique émergeant des pratiques spirituelles de plusieurs nations autochtones des États-Unis. Le Cirque Exalté s’amène avec un étonnant rituel acrobatique néo-païen, peuplé de personnages débridés.

Jonglerie, acrobaties, danse, BMX et lancers de massues se mélangent dans ce spectacle à l’énergie volcanique. Depuis leur rencontre à l’École de Cirque de Bruxelles, Sara Desprez et Angelos Matsakis inventent un cirque festif et libérateur, qui s’articule autour de la tension entre maîtrise et abandon. S’i·els sont virtuoses, i·els sont davantage en quête de transcendance que de brio technique. Leur approche, rigoureuse mais profondément libre, est à la source d’un langage circassien unique. 

Dans Foutoir céleste, i·els mettent cette griffe particulière au service d’une grande célébration inspirée des rituels les plus anciens des premiers peuples d’Amérique. Le Dieu Coyote dont i·els s’amourachent est une figure sauvage venue perturber l’humain pour le révéler à sa vulnérabilité et le délester de sa propension à se croire tout-puissant. Pour en finir une fois pour toutes avec notre besoin d’invincibilité.

Sinds hun ontmoeting op de Brusselse circusschool hebben Sara Desprez en Angelos Matsakis een circus bedacht dat zowel feestelijk als bevrijdend is, gestoeld op de spanning tussen beheersing en overgave. Ze mogen dan virtuozen zijn, maar ze zijn meer op zoek naar transcendentie dan naar technische hoogstandjes. Hun aanpak, rigoureus en toch uiterst vrij, is de bron van een unieke circustaal.

In Foutoir céleste gebruiken ze deze bijzondere stijl om een groots feest te creëren dat geïnspireerd is op de oudste rituelen van de eerste volkeren van Amerika. De Coyote God waarop ze verliefd worden is een wilde figuur die de mensen komt verstoren om

hun kwetsbaarheid te onthullen, om hen te verlossen van hun neiging om te denken dat ze almachtig zijn. Om voor eens en altijd een einde te maken aan onze drang naar onoverwinnelijkheid.
