Het waren gouden tijden, zowel cultureel als financieel. Maar in december 1999, bij het begin van het nieuwe millennium, werd er een bom gelegd onder de core business. De industrie werd opgeschrikt door de opkomst van de eerste digitale platformen.Het verhaal van 1999 gaat over controle: wie had het, wie verloor het en wie wilde meer. Het was een jaar van chaos voor een sector die de 20e eeuw had vormgegeven, zelfgenoegzaam was geworden en zich nu razendsnel moest aanpassen aan een compleet andere en veel onzekerdere toekomst.
