Once a month, together with the cooperation of Rialto, we are happy to announce EXPATS MOVIE NIGHT: an event to get together with other internationals and watch recent foreign language films with English subtitles at the Rialto cinema

There will be a reserved area for the AIC group where gathering before the movie. Ask at the entrance where the meeting point is.

After the movie, we will move to Bar Boele to have some drinks and network.

WHERE📍: The meetings are at Rialto VU: a brand new innovative film theatre at the VU Campus. The host Karolina will be there beforehand and afterward to meet and greet and have a few drinks.

WHEN: Sunday 02nd of April. We meet from 16:30 in the AIC area and then the movie starts at 17:00.

TICKET PRICE: 12€

THE MOVIE🎥: Norwegian black comedy SICK OF MYSELF by Kristoffer Borgli with English subs.

🎬 SICK OF MYSELF: The relationship between thirty-somethings Thomas and Signe, both afflicted with rather narcissistic personalities, is by no means healthy. He is an artist, she works in a café, what they have in common is that they like to be the centre of attention. As Thomas' installations become more and more famous, he even appears on the cover of a renowned magazine, Signe devises a plan that will allow her, too, to be the centre of attention again: taking pills that cause skin rashes. It works, but not enough yet and so she decides to increase the dose substantially. Soon she loses all control.

Lerares Rachel (Virginie Efira) tikt de veertig aan als ze smoorverliefd wordt op Ali, die ze tijdens een gitaarles leert kennen. Al snel raakt ze ook verknocht aan zijn vierjarige dochter Leila en krijgt ze ook te maken met de moeder (Chiara Mastroianni) van het meisje. In deze nieuwe situatie ervaart Rachel niet alleen moedergevoelens voor Leila en alle risico’s die het houden van andermans kinderen met zich mee brengen, maar begint ze ook haar eigen kinderwens te herontdekken. Regisseur Rebecca Zlotowski (‘Un fille facil’, ‘Grand Central’) baseerde zich deels op haar eigen ervaringen en onderzoekt met ‘Les enfants des autres’ de vele verschillende vormen die ouderschap kunnen aannemen. De film werd geselecteerd voor de filmfestivals van Venetië en Toronto in 2022.

Sleep jezelf en je vrienden de deur uit, check in en reis mee langs nostalgische haltes en de nieuwste hit-trajecten. Met een ervaren buschauffeur aan het roer en barpersoneel dat vooralsnog niet gaat staken voorzien we een memorabele reis. Soms met een omleiding, maar altijd met een goede vaart. Elke donderdag, lekker dansen in EKKO.

Maya, het vrolijke en nieuwsgierige bijtje dat heel erg gesteld is op haar vrijheid, haar vriendje Willy en een hele hoop nieuwe insectenvriendjes zetten alles op alles om de eer van hun bijenkorf te verdedigen tijdens de jaarlijkse Honingspelen. Zij moeten het in verschillende proeven opnemen tegen het team van Violet. Als ze de spelen verliezen, moet de korf de volledige honingoogst van dat jaar afstaan aan de grote keizerin van Buzztropolis. Zal team Maya deze spelen kunnen winnen?

Elke vrijdag- en zaterdagnacht draait er een vinyl DJ vanaf 20.00 en tussen 23.00 en 04.30 kan jij dansmoves komen showen, geleid door de funky house, latin house, dance, house en club classics van onze resident DJ’s. Minimum leeftijd is 23!

Een romantische komedie? Ja, dat kan, jij hebt invloed op de programmering! Elke maandag houdt café Domkop filmavond, onder de noemer Cult Noir, en er worden ook verzoekjes aangenomen! Eigenaar Willie is waus van film en wil op maandagavonden graag met wat anderen een mooie film kijken, die emotie bij je oproept en waar over na te praten valt. Eigenaar Noordin van Kippig vond het zo’n leuk idee, speciaal hiervoor besloot ie op maandag zijn deuren te openen. Domkop opent de deuren om 18.30u, de film begint om 20.30u. Op de keukendeur staat het programma, achter de bar ligt een boekje met filmtitels. Kruis aan wat je wil zien, de populairste programmeren we en zit jouw favoriete film er niet bij? Schrijf ‘m op, Domkop gaat ‘m voor je zoeken!
