Description

A meeting place for hip-hop fans where everyone is welcome and diversity is central. This festival is therefore created in collaboration with numerous socio-cultural organisations in Ghent.

An experience full of energy, culture and music that is what BACK2SCRATCH stands for. Rap battles, skate contests to live graffiti, you will definitely enjoy this spectacle. The festival covers 3 main themes: Urban Sports, Street Art & Music. Because of the mix of these communities, you will feel an atmosphere of involvement and togetherness.

Everyone is welcome to participate, just chill out or fully indulge. So be sure to be there and help expand Ghent's street culture.

Festival organised for and by young people with a love of hip-hop culture. The event contains sporting, artistic but also musical elements that make it an unforgettable experience.

Piano Composer Festival Op vrijdag 26 april 2024 vindt in Gent de 1e editie plaats van het Piano Composer Festival. Drie gerenommeerde Gentse pianist-componisten (Matthias De Jaeger, Pieter Savenberg en Mattias Devriendt, ) fungeren als curator-uitvoerder van dit uniek evenement. Tijdens een gezamenlijk concert zullen ze elk hun mooiste werken vertolken. Een unieke samenwerking, een verrassende muzikale ontdekkingstocht, een meeslepend en feeëriek concert. 1 ding hebben de 3 pianist-componisten gemeen: ze componeren allen toegankelijke hedendaagse neoklassieke muziek die je meteen doet wegdromen. The festival "Sorry, not sorry" always takes place in a different neighbourhood outside the city centre. This time around it takes place in the Ghent neighbourhood Moscou-Vogelhoek-Flora. At the heart of the festival, you can find the industrial site of the former weaving and spinning mill De Porre. Street art in the broadest sense of the word is at the centre of the festival. As always, the focus is on creative ‘underground’ and ‘out of the box’ art. The festival puts young artists and organisations in the spotlight and breaks down the walls between mainstream artists and street artists. The programme offers a rich variety of visual arts, workshops, info sessions and educational initiatives.

During the Pentecost weekend the city of Ghent presents an annual baroque music festival with music of the three great masters of German Baroque: Bach, Telemann and Graupner. Every year, Florian Heyerick selects an instrument and brings together specialists from home and abroad to provide the public with this baroque pearls. This year it is all about the violin. Expect next to concerts with cantatas, orchestral works and many chamber also an Open Stage, a Telemarathon, lectures, city tours, a children's program, world and jazz music, and many known and unknown masterpieces performed by a pleiad of outstanding musicians on several attractive sites. In between the quince makes for an equally refreshing and surprising culinary discovery. Are you driving to Ghent? First check whether you may enter the city centre with your vehicle. Clean vehicles may enter the city centre free of charge, polluting vehicles have to pay. Is your vehicle allowed to enter, but do you not have a Belgian or Dutch number plate? You will ALWAYS have to register!

Au programme de la soirée ? En particulier, des extraits de Mitridate, re di Ponto de Mozart, la production phare de cette année, interprétés par Gianna Cañete Gallo, Dorine Mortelmans, Sonia Sheridan Jacquelin, Mathis Van Cleynenbreugel et d'autres artistes talentueux. Triomphe lors de sa création en 1770, Mitridate nous réserve non seulement un feu d'artifice vocal, mais aussi un drame familial puissant sur fond de conflit géopolitique. Racine n'est jamais loin. Il y aura également des aperçus d'autres événements du festival, tels qu’un concert au théâtre, des sérénades dans la galerie, des conférences à la librairie et un concert entièrement consacré à Haendel à l'église. Kora Days 2024 will explore the connection between the kora and another well-known stringed instrument: the guitar. In addition, on this occasion, the great Toumani Diabaté honours us with an exceptional concert that unites him with the Orchestre National de Lille: a meeting between the kora and symphonic music that Toumani himself explored with the late Ali Farka Touré on their legendary album Ali et Toumani (2010). The full Kora Days programme will be announced later, but already save the date! ********** Français ********** Une fois n’est pas coutume, le festival se dote d’une dimension supplémentaire. Les Kora Days 2024 exploreront le lien qui unit la kora à un autre instrument à cordes pincées très connu : la guitare. Les Équinoxes est un festival de musique féministe, qui se veut accessible à toustes. Notre objectif est d'encourager l'égalité, l'inclusion et la diversité, par la mise en avant de talents divers, et en particulier des femmes, et ce, dans le respect de notre environnement. Notre festival tend vers quatre axes : Féministe - Car ce projet de festival émerge du constat d'un manque de représentativité des artistes féminines lors d’évènements musicaux d’ampleur. Ce festival souhaite donner plus de visibilité à ces femmes et à leur travail en mettant en place une programmation composée au moins pour moitié de femmes et de personnes issues d'autres minorités sexuelles et de genres. Inclusif- Car ce festival se veut l'allié des différentes luttes sociales. C'est pourquoi nous ferons particulièrement attention aux diversités pour la programmation et l'accueil du public notamment en termes d'origines ethniques, culturelles, socio-économiques, de situations de santé physique et mentale, d'âges et de spiritualités. Accessible- Car au-delà des barrières socio-économico- culturelles, nous tenons avant tout à ce que le festival soit un grand moment de partage, réunissant des êtres humains de toutes origines et de tous milieux.
