Piano Composer Festival
Matthias De Jaeger
“Writing stories, filling the air with poetry. My fingers are a pencil, the
piano my paper aeroplane.”

During the Pentecost weekend the city of Ghent presents an annual baroque music

Every year, Florian Heyerick selects an instrument and brings together
specialists from home and abroad to provide the public with this baroque pearls.
This year it is all about the violin.
Expect next to concerts with cantatas, orchestral works and many chamber also an
Open Stage, a Telemarathon, lectures, city tours, a children's program, world

In the summer months, orchestras, fanfare groups and brass bands treat you to
music at the weekly Sunday flower market.
The Town Crier of Ghent announces the concerts half an hour before they begin
and introduces the music group that will be adding atmosphere to your morning at
the flower market.

The festival "Sorry, not sorry" always takes place in a different neighbourhood
outside the city centre. This time around it takes place in the Ghent
neighbourhood Moscou-Vogelhoek-Flora. At the heart of the festival, you can find
the industrial site of the former weaving and spinning mill De Porre.
Street art in the broadest sense of the word is at the centre of the festival.
As always, the focus is on creative ‘underground’ and ‘out of the box’ art. The
festival puts young artists and organisations in the spotlight and breaks down
the walls between mainstream artists and street artists.
The programme offers a rich variety of visual arts, workshops, info sessions and
educational initiatives.
By tradition, the Ghent-based independent label el Negocito organizes a summer
festival in Citadel Park. You will be able to enjoy bands and ensembles situated
outside of mainstream jazz.
Citadel Park is the epicentre of inspirational moments and lively gatherings,
where you can enjoy contemporary jazz and improvisational music in a lovely
setting.
