No one flees for fun. Ali is 12 years old when he leaves Somalia. He travels the
dangerous road from the Horn of Africa to the heart of Europe. Along the way,
friendships are made despite the hardships and hope is found amidst the horror.
Ali has to cross several countries, a desert and the Mediterranean along with
hundreds of migrants seeking a better future. He arrives at the Brussels South
railway station in 2019, alone, without knowing a word of French or Dutch. He is
14 years old …
This incredible epic is the true story of Ali Abdi Omar, adapted for the opera
in collaboration with Ali himself. This moving creation reconstructs all the
stages of his journey. A sensory experience where electronic music, voice,
string and wind instruments, percussion and dance pay a vibrant tribute to the
resilience of a young boy forced, like so many others, to leave his family and
home in order to survive.

overleven.

voice – couple this with her dedication to music that swings, and you have the
jazz musician’s singer.” – James Morrison Multi-Instrumentalist (AU) For these
intimate concerts, British/Australian jazz vocalist Hetty Kate has invited
celebrated musicians, pianist Maxime Moyaerts and bassist Victor Foulon to join
her. As the trio explores classics and curiosities from the swing, cool jazz and
bop eras you’ll discover the joys of the jazz trio, a simplicity allowing each

Myers, Jazzwax Magazine (USA) Described as “the real deal” and “one of the best
swing singers on the scene today”, jazz singer Hetty Kate has been pursuing an
impressive international career for over a decade. From intimate clubs to the
most prestigious stages such as The Sydney Opera House, Hetty’s career has taken
her all over the world, from New Zealand to New York. With her clear voice and
remarkable intonation, reminiscent of the singers of the 1950s, Hetty Kate
swings the beautiful songs of the American Songbook – from Gershwin to Dameron,
from swing to bop. You’ll notice that Hetty “honors the composer” by staying
true to the message and melody of his composition, and uses improvisation in a
way that never interferes with the lyrics. It is this rare quality and a
compelling ease on stage that has attracted the attention of musicians and
audiences the world over. Over the course of her career, Hetty has released ten

As recently as November, Christian Tetzlaff was soloing alongside the Belgian
National Orchestra in Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D minor, Op.?47. Now he
comes with his prestigious quartet, hailed by the New York Times for its
“dramatic, energetic playing of clean intensity”, and they play Sibelius’s
string quartet, Voces intimae. The quartet completes the programme with
Mendelssohn’s Quartet No.?2 in A minor, Op.?13. He composed the work after
hearing that his great inspiration – Beethoven – had died. Through a
Beethovenian writing, the then 18-year-old composer had already managed to give
the audience a glimpse of the airy timbres of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Young French-Spanish guitarist Thibaut Garcia made a particularly tasteful Bozar
debut last season alongside Philippe Jaroussky. For this season, he takes his
guitar companion Antoine Morinière to Brussels for an arrangement of Bach’s
Goldberg Variations for two guitars. For this challenge, they transcribed Bach’s
masterpiece together for their instruments and even had ‘twin guitars’ built to
complete this repertoire. Come discover this new arrangement in the company of
two of the greatest guitar virtuosos of our time.

Welcome to our upcoming concert "6 hands | 1 piano" where we will be performing
a unique program consisting of pieces for solo, four-handed and six-handed
piano.
In the solo pieces each pianist will showcase their virtuosity and individual
expression. We will perform pieces ranging from classical to contemporary
styles, even including some original pieces. Here we can truly showcase our
individual backgrounds as pianists.
The four handed and six-handed pieces is where those backgrounds will be brought
together to create a celebration of teamwork, musicianship and creative synergy.
With the four-handed pieces we are able to tell our stories together, ranging
from folkdances to beautiful fairytales. The piano becomes very intimate when
two pianists have a dialogue on the instrument.
However, the six-handed pieces are what make this concert a must-see for
everyone. Three pianist playing together behind the same instrument is something
you don't get to see often. Together we will even premiere a new piece, written
by us for six-handed piano. This form of performance will showcase our
individual talents while working seamlessly together to produce a unique sound
that will captivate your senses.
The concert event promises to be an unforgettable experience, with each
performance showcasing our different styles and skills. Don't miss this
opportunity to witness the magic of piano music at its best. Join us for an
evening of beautiful melodies and impeccable performances.
