Le Retour du capitaine Nemo

From the dark depths of the ocean, the “Nauti-Octopus” gradually emerges.
Inside this strange craft – half animal, half machine – is an old man.
Nemo, unrecognizable, is still unconscious.
He awakens, emaciated, from a lengthy coma.
His first memories return: “Captain... I was a captain… I’m Captain Nemo.”
At the helm, staring out through the enormous porthole, Nemo at first wants to believe he is in control of the Nauti-Octopus, before realising it is all an illusion.
As the craft gradually rises to the surface, images from his life come flooding back: the Nautilus, the encounter with Professor Aronnax, the mysterious island, the engineer Cyrus Smith and his companions…
Where will the Nauti-Octopus take him now?

François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters will take the stage for Le Retour du Capitaine Nemo, a musical performance with live drawing and a first in Belgium. Together with singer Xavier de Lignerolles, percussionist Pierre Quiriny and clarinetist Jean-Marc Fessard, they have created a multimedia show based on Jules Verne and his legendary character Captain Nemo.

Dans les grandes profondeurs de l’océan, le « Nauti-poulpe » émerge peu à peu.
À l’intérieur de cet engin étrange, mi-animal mi-machine, on découvre un vieil homme. Nemo, méconnaissable, est encore inconscient.
Hagard, il se réveille d’un très long coma.
De premiers souvenirs lui reviennent : « Capitaine, j’étais capitaine… Je suis le capitaine Nemo. »
Aux commandes, face à un hublot gigantesque, Nemo veut d’abord croire qu’il contrôle le Nauti-poulpe, avant de comprendre que c’est une illusion.
Des images de sa vie antérieure lui reviennent, tandis que le Nauti-poulpe remonte peu à peu vers la surface : le Nautilus, les rencontres avec le professeur Aronnax, puis l’île mystérieuse, l’ingénieur Cyrus Smith et ses compagnons…
Jusqu’où le Nauti-poulpe va-t-il maintenant l’entraîner ?

François Schuiten et Benoît Peeters monteront sur scène pour ce spectacle musical en dessin live, une première en Belgique. Avec le chanteur Xavier de Lignerolles, le percussionniste Pierre Quiriny et le clarinettiste Jean-Marc Fessard, ils proposent cette fois un spectacle multimédia autour des figures mythiques du capitaine Nemo et de Jules Verne.

Uit de diepten van de oceaan komt geleidelijk de “Nauti-Octopus” tevoorschijn.
In dit vreemde vaartuig half dier half machine, zit een oude man. Nemo is onherkenbaar en nog steeds bewusteloos.
Hij ontwaakt, uitgemergeld, uit een lange coma.
Zijn eerste herinneringen komen terug: “Kapitein... Ik was een kapitein... Ik ben kapitein Nemo.”
Aan het roer, starend door de enorme patrijspoort, wil Nemo eerst geloven dat hij de controle heeft over de Nauti-Octopus, voordat hij zich realiseert dat het een illusie is. Terwijl het vaartuig geleidelijk naar de oppervlakte stijgt, komen de beelden uit zijn leven terug: de Nautilus, de ontmoeting met professor Aronnax, daarna het mysterieuze eiland, ingenieur Cyrus Smith en zijn metgezellen...
Waar brengt de Nauti-Octopus hem nu naartoe?

François Schuiten en Benoît Peeters staan op het podium met Le Retour du Capitaine Nemo, een voorstelling met muziek en live tekeningen, een primeur in België. Samen met zanger Xavier de Lignerolles, percussionist Pierre Quiriny en klarinettist Jean-Marc Fessard hebben ze een multimediashow gecreëerd gebaseerd op Jules Verne en zijn legendarische personage Kapitein Nemo.
