Nazareno Ferruggio
Après avoir reçu des prix internationaux au Grand Prix Ibla et au Concours international de piano Grieg à Oslo, Nazareno Ferruggio s'est lancé dans une carrière qui l'a conduit à se produire dans les salles les plus importantes du monde : Carnegie Hall, Lindemann Hall, Cheong Ju Arts Center, Rosengarten, Wiener Saal.
Ferruggio a donné des concerts et des récitals dans de nombreuses villes telles que New York, Sydney, Milan, Lima, Barcelone, Hanoi, Singapour, Sao Paulo, Toronto et bien d'autres encore. Il a également enregistré pour la radio et la télévision coréenne, japonaise, espagnole, péruvienne et maltaise, et a été soliste avec l'orchestre de la province de Bari, l'ICO Magna Grecia, l'orchestre philharmonique de Malte et l'orchestre d'État du Michoacan. Il a été invité à jouer dans de nombreux festivals, notamment les Sommets du classique, le Festival international du printemps et le Cantiere Internazionale di Musica Contemporanea. Il est professeur invité à l'université Sowon de Cheong Ju en Corée, à l'université de musique d'Oslo en Norvège, à l'université de musique de Mexico, à l'académie de musique de Novi Sad et au conservatoire supérieur de Castellon.
Il a enregistré les CD "Thème et Variations", "Live in Barcelona" et "Live in London" pour le label Wide Classique.
Enfin, il est finaliste du concours international Gina Bachauer à Salt Lake City.

Nazareno Ferruggio
After receiving international prizes at the Ibla Grand Prize and the Grieg International Piano Competition in Oslo, Nazareno Ferruggio pursued a career that led him to perform at the world's most important halls: Carnegie Hall, Lindemann Hall, Cheong Ju Arts Center, Rosengarten, Wiener Saal.
Ferruggio has given concerts and recitals in numerous cities such as New York, Sydney, Milan, Lima, Barcelona, Hanoi, Singapore, Sao Paulo, Toronto and many more. He has also recorded for Korean, Japanese, Spanish, Peruvian and Maltese radio and television, and has been soloist with the Orchestra of the Province of Bari, ICO Magna Grecia, Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and Michoacan State Orchestra. He has been invited to play in numerous festivals, including Sommets du classique, International Spring Festival, Cantiere Internazionale di Musica Contemporanea. He is invited as a guest professor at the Sowon University of Cheong Ju in Korea, the University of Music in Oslo, Norway and the University of Music in Mexico City, Academy of Music in Novi Sad, Conservatorio Superior de Castellon.
He recorded the CDs "Theme et Variations"," Live in Barcelona" and "Live in London" for the Wide Classique label.
Finally, he is a finalist in the Gina Bachauer International Competition in Salt Lake City.

********** Français ********** Le 10 septembre 2021, à l’occasion de la journée mondiale de prévention du suicide, les Boho Strings ont rejoint le contre-ténor allemand Andreas Scholl et la claveciniste israélienne Tamar Halperin sur la scène de deSingel pour un concert de bienfaisance. Hommage à Peter De Prins, professeur et musicien amateur de l’entourage des Boho Strings décédé en 2020, le concert Be A He(a)ro a surtout pour ambition d’abattre les tabous autour du suicide, pour mieux le prévenir et l’éviter. À Bozar, ces musiciens se retrouvent autour de ce programme poignant associant les implorations baroques de Dowland, Bach et Händel aux accents méditatifs et contemporains de Glass, Johannsson, Billy Joel, Silvestrov et Sollima. Le cœur du message de ce concert : chacun peut être un héros ou une héroïne grâce à son écoute. Une discussion de panel avec Dr Catherine de Groof, Yamina Krossa, David Ramael, Andreas Scholl et Tamar Halperin aura lieu entre 18h45 et 19h30 dans la salle Henry Le Bœuf. Cette session aura lieu en anglais et sera modérée par Sergio Roberto Grattieri. Entrée libre. ********** Nederlands ********** Op 10 september 2021, ter gelegenheid van de internationale dag voor zelfmoordpreventie, deelde Boho Strings het podium van deSingel met de Duitse contratenor Andreas Scholl en de Israëlische klaveciniste Tamar Halperin tijdens een benefietconcert. Het concert Be A He(a)ro was een eerbetoon aan Peter De Prins, een leraar en hobbymuzikant uit de entourage van Boho Strings die in 2020 het leven liet. Komaf maken met alle taboes rond zelfdoding, om zulke menselijke drama’s beter te kunnen voorkomen: dat was vooral de bedoeling. In Bozar komen deze muzikanten samen in een aangrijpend programma dat de barokke smeekbedes van Dowland, Bach en Händel verenigt met de meditatieve, hedendaagse toetsen van Glass, Jóhannsson, Billy Joel, Silvestrov en Sollima. De boodschap van dit concert? Iedereen kan een held(in) zijn door gewoon maar te luisteren. ********** English ********** Commissioned by Trinity Wall Street as part of their “Mass Re-Imaginings” Project, Mass for the Endangered is a hymn for the voiceless and the discounted, a requiem for the not-yet-gone. The six-movement piece appeals for parity, compassion, and protection, from a mindset—a malignance or apathy—that threatens to destroy the planet we all are meant to share. The intense parts of the Mass are interspersed with brief piano interludes, providing moments for reflection and contemplation: how will our present generation ensure a habitable planet for the next? What steps are we taking today to create a sustainable future for our planet, ensuring the well-being of our children and grandchildren? The Vlaams Radiokoor presents this contemporary mass in honour of Earth Day, calling not only for compassion and protection through music but also emphasising the need for heightened awareness, urgency, and, most importantly, action. ********** English ********** As recently as November, Christian Tetzlaff was soloing alongside the Belgian National Orchestra in Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D minor, Op.?47. Now he comes with his prestigious quartet, hailed by the New York Times for its “dramatic, energetic playing of clean intensity”, and they play Sibelius’s string quartet, Voces intimae. The quartet completes the programme with Mendelssohn’s Quartet No.?2 in A minor, Op.?13. He composed the work after hearing that his great inspiration – Beethoven – had died. Through a Beethovenian writing, the then 18-year-old composer had already managed to give the audience a glimpse of the airy timbres of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. ********** Français ********** Après le Concerto pour violon de Sibelius en novembre aux côtés du Belgian National Orchestra, Christian Tetzlaff revient à Bozar, cette fois-ci avec son prestigieux quatuor. Salué par le New York Times pour son «?jeu dramatique et énergique d'une intensité lumineuse?», le Quatuor Tetzlaff interprète le quatuor à cordes Voces intimae de Sibelius, ainsi que le Quatuor à cordes n° 2 de Mendelssohn. C’est après avoir appris la mort de son grand inspirateur, Beethoven, que Mendelssohn posa cette œuvre sur le papier. Âgé de 18 ans seulement, le compositeur nous fait goûter, dans une écriture beethovenienne, aux sonorités aériennes de son légendaire Songe du nuit d’été, composé quelques mois auparavant. ********** Nederlands ********** In november soleerde Christian Tetzlaff nog aan de zijde van het Belgian National Orchestra in het Vioolconcerto van Sibelius. Nu komt hij met zijn prestigieuze kwartet, bejubeld door de New York Times voor zijn ‘dramatische en energievolle spel met een heldere intensiteit, en spelen ze het strijkkwartet van Sibelius, Voces intimae. Het kwartet vervolledigt het programma met Mendelssohns Tweede strijkkwartet. Hij componeerde het werk nadat hij hoorde dat zijn grote inspiratiebron Beethoven overleden was. De slechts achttienjarige componist weet doorheen een Beethovensiaanse schriftuur ook de luchtige klankkleuren van Ein Sommernachtstraum, die hij enkele maanden eerder componeerde, te laten opklinken.

********** English ********** Traditional folk melodies, intricate rhythms, and innovative techniques form a rich musical foundation shared by the grandmasters Béla Bartók and György Ligeti. Enthralled by electronic music, Ligeti crafted his own unique musical language. The polyrhythms he pioneered possess intricate structures and are entirely distinct, with his piano concerto serving as a quintessential illustration. He regarded it as one of his most intricate and technically demanding compositions, while others may consider it his most provocative work. While the title of Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra may initially appear somewhat contradictory, it is indeed apt - Bartók grants each instrument group within the 100-piece orchestra its own moment in the spotlight. Like a skilled general, he reunites the troops at the piece’s conclusion, culminating in an exhilarating finale. Following its premiere in New York in 1944, Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra quickly conquered Europe, thanks to the Brussels Philharmonic's precursor, the Grand Symphony Orchestra, which performed the European premiere in 1946 in Paris. Bartók expressed particular enthusiasm for the performance: "I can hardly find the words to express my admiration for the orchestra and its conductor, Mr. André. The orchestra is among the finest in the world..." Flagey, Brussels Philharmonic € 41 > € 5 ********** Français ********** Musique folklorique traditionnelle, rythmes et textures, techniques innovantes : un terreau musical riche partagé par les grands maîtres Béla Bartók et György Ligeti. Captivé par la musique électronique, Ligeti a forgé son propre langage musical distinctif. Les polyrythmies qu'il a développées sont caractérisées par une structure complexe et une singularité absolue, son concerto pour piano en étant un exemple éminent. Lui-même le considérait comme l'une de ses compositions les plus complexes et techniquement exigeantes, et d'autres pourraient le percevoir comme l'une de ses œuvres les plus provocantes. Le concerto pour orchestre de Bartók figure à juste titre parmi les chefs-d'œuvre absolus du XXe siècle. Bien que le titre puisse sembler contradictoire, il est néanmoins justifié : Bartók offre à chaque groupe d'instruments de l'orchestre de 100 musiciens son propre moment de gloire en solo. Tel un général accompli, il rassemble ses troupes à la fin de l'œuvre pour un final délicieusement entraînant. Zelf beschouwde hij het als een van zijn meest complexe en technisch veeleisende composities, anderen wellicht als zijn meest provocatieve compositie. Bártoks concerto voor orkest hoort terecht bij de absolute meesterwerken van de 20ste eeuw. De aanvankelijk wat tegenstrijdig lijkende titel is toch terecht - Bartók geeft elke instrumentgroep van het 100-koppige orkest een eigen solomoment in de schijnwerpers. Als een volleerd veldheer brengt hij de troepen aan het eind weer samen in een verrukkelijk opzwepend slot dat perfect past bij het onverwoestbare optimisme dat hij in Amerika aantrof. In the solo pieces each pianist will showcase their virtuosity and individual expression. We will perform pieces ranging from classical to contemporary styles, even including some original pieces. Here we can truly showcase our individual backgrounds as pianists. The four handed and six-handed pieces is where those backgrounds will be brought together to create a celebration of teamwork, musicianship and creative synergy. With the four-handed pieces we are able to tell our stories together, ranging from folkdances to beautiful fairytales. The piano becomes very intimate when two pianists have a dialogue on the instrument. However, the six-handed pieces are what make this concert a must-see for everyone. Three pianist playing together behind the same instrument is something you don't get to see often. Together we will even premiere a new piece, written by us for six-handed piano. This form of performance will showcase our individual talents while working seamlessly together to produce a unique sound that will captivate your senses.
